I was at a science fair the other day and had the chance to have my ears examined with an otoscope. I discovered that my ears were full of earwax which was disgusting to view, however at the time I felt no issues with my hearing. I will admit I had used foreign objects in my ear prior to this (yes I know you aren’t supposed to do that but I thought I wasn’t pushing it too far in and also it was a really nice feeling) I planned to have it professionally removed at the earliest opportunity however my family have been keen for me to try hydrogen peroxide etc
Early last week, I developed a sort of super-cold/flu and at the same time, my left ear began to feel clogged. This has been more or less consistent all week. Perhaps it’s the Eustachian Tubes that are blocked. My right ear was also a little bit muffled but not as bad as the left. I also have always had the ability to “rumble” my Tympanic membrane (like when you yawn it rumbles, I can do that manually), on some days this week I’ve done that and I’ve had some mild ear pain or like it’s bumping into something? Hard to tell, is this a perforation or earwax knocking against the eardrum. Today i get passing episodes of a little bit of pain in the ear.
The other day I did a quick test of my hearing perception and I realised that my left ear perceived sounds/music etc as flatter in pitch, in musical terms I would say nearly a semitone. I’m freaking out because I’m a musician and I need decent hearing to function. I had this happen about a year and a half ago for both ears where everything sounded out of tune during a really nasty super-cold, but it cleared itself up eventually.

I've seen plenty of discussion about why Kaigaku was Upper Moon 6 instead of 5 and the most common answer seemed to be that he wasn't strong enough for number 5.
I find that explanation really unconvincing. It suggests that you need to be of a certain level of strength to hold a rank, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Gyuutaro was the previous UM6 and Kaigaku seemed quite weaker compared to him.
From what I understood, Muzan can confer the title of UM upon someone (or take it away), but the ranking is decided by their relative strength. It doesn't matter if the guy above you is only marginally stronger or a hundred times better - as long as there is no one stronger than you around, you get to be the next rank.
This also explains how the blood battles work. Muzan doesn't randomly confer titles based on who he thinks is the strongest - demons can battle each-other to move up the ranks of the twelve Kizuki. But if Kaigaku wants to be UM5 instead of UM6, who does he need to challenge? If he challenges Nakime and doesn't win, does he go back to being no.6 or end up no.5?
Also, I actually think Kaigaku might be stronger than Nakime. Nakime has a pretty weak offensive ability and her main strength is in manipulating the Infinity Castle to keep her attackers away from her. So to beat her, Kaigaku needs to be fast enough react and strike and speed is Kaigaku's main strength. Combine that with his breathing technique and the Nichirin sword and its a matchup that actually works in his favor.
Too much about the logic of "he just wasn't strong enough for rank 5" doesn't make sense. So I'm looking for an alternative explanation.

Firstly, I think Kaigaku's rank was appropriate when he received it. We don't know exactly when he became a demon, how long he spent eating people and when he became an upper moon. His master's seppuku doesn't tell us anything because the news of him becoming a demon could've come long, long after he actually became one.
But I think its fair to assume that he was made into an upper moon after Gyuutaro/Daki were killed to be a replacement. And at the time, Gyokko and Hantengu were still alive and hunting for the swordsmith village.
So his ranking of no.6 at the time makes sense and under the normal course of events, Muzan would've promoted him to no.4 once the other two died. But something changes at the end of that arc - Nezuko becomes immune and Muzan's goals change.

We already know Muzan hates the demons he created - he just keeps them around to fulfill his goals. And once the demon slayers are annihilated and he conquers the sun, he'd get rid of them himself. Both these goals are within his grasp once he sees Nezuko withstand the sun. So from that moment onwards, he no longer cares about the relative strength of the upper moons. He'd use them for one last mission and then that's it - he's done with them.
At this point, Nakime's abilities are a lot more useful to him. So he throws her a bone by promoting her. Before all this, Nakime wasn't considered strong enough to rank among the Lower Moons, let alone the Upper and I don't think she could've actually overcome that gap even if Muzan had given her a big dose of his blood. That's another reason why I don't think Nakime was stronger than Kaigaku - but at that point, Muzan didn't care about who was stronger. Just who was more useful. So he didn't bother to update Kaigaku's rank and promoted Nakime instead.

This also had an added advantage - with a no.4 and no.6 in place, it gives the impression that Muzan has already reimbursed his ranks. That there is actually an unknown no.5 around that the demon slayers would have to deal with. This deception could've been a useful way to distract the demon slayers and keep the heat off Muzan himself.

Recently after coming back to my uni’s team I’m really starting to question my coaches methods. This is my 3rd year and I’m starting to see a pattern of athlete failure not just in myself but my teammates as well, so I’m wondering if any of you in other programs can give me insight on your coaches methods vs mine.
Here’s a sample of our weekly workouts for long sprints:
Monday: 500 (1:10) 400 (52) 300 (37) 200 (26) 200 (27) (12-8 min rest) Tuesday: 25 min long run Wednesday: 5x300 (37) (4 min rest) Thursday: hills 4, 3, 2, 1 Friday: 3x500 (1:10) (15 min rest)
So here’s my thing. Since doing this exact set of workouts for the last 3 years I’ve only gotten worse in the 400m. Not just me, I’ve seen guys come and go who left hs with a 47 or 46 and then not be able to break 49 in college. It’s always the same complaint as I had too “we’re running too fast at practice for too long. And we never do speed work.” At uni our “speed” workouts would be like 6 150s with 3 min rest.
Oh and hurdles or blocks? Screw it you should already be a world champion at that because you’ll never practice it. I barely consider myself a hurdler anymore and even less of a starter.
The best season I’ve had was this year when I just practiced on my own and went to meets for the 60. I start practicing with the team during outdoor then get yelled at when I’m huffing and puffing across the line slower then the asked time, and then beat everyone who does better then me at practice by a good margin at meets.
I don’t know, I don’t hear a lot from other collegiate athletes what their workouts are like but I can’t help but feel our coach is running us into the ground. Granted I’ve always been slow at practice and fast at meets but it seems the harder I try at practice to meet his expectations the worse I get.
So what do y’all think? Should I just shut up and get it done or should I start looking out for myself more like I’ve started?

Hunters was a wonderful cafe in Bath that served craft beer, coffee and artisan food. It was a meeting place for tourists and locals. In Hunters I developed my mobile app game, Conxy, and found its first players. It was hugely exciting persuading people to download and play my little game. Without my mini sales hussle, over an IPA, to get things off the ground, I don’t think Conxy would have been downloaded 4,000 times.

Products evolve into good ones through engagement with and feedback from customers. Startups take off because founders make them do so and a big element of this is the manual recruitment of customers. This is often a scary prospect for founders who prefer to work on the product instead. Paul Graham’s essay Do Things That Don’t Scale explains why founders should directly engage with customers. The best way to do this is face to face contact as Airbnb’s founders and I can attest. Another, somewhat more scalable, approach is via sales emails. Cold Emails to Hot Leads explores how to optimise the chance of attracting the attention of key people. Good sales emails:

• Use clear and concise language with 6-8 sentences.
• Establish social proof by indicating that you are the founder and describes your success.
• Address a significant problem.
• Include our website and ask for a call.

Our initial customers are early adopters who love new things and do not expect a polished product. We can expect this group to represent less than 5% of the total user population of a successful product. Hence, to a fair degree, finding initial customers is a numbers game.
The sales process is:

1. Prospecting: Establish a list of potential customers, including name, title/company, email and social media profiles. This can be drawn from our personal network and research.
2. Prioritise the list: Based on desirability of the prospect, expected ease of engagement and sales success.
3. Qualification: Send sales emails or otherwise approach prospects.
4. Sales call, including a product demo. Proposal, including pricing, is made to the prospect. Attempt to close the sale.
5. Customers start using and paying for the product.

The desire to own land has been moving the prepping and off-grid communities for generations. Having a few acres that give you room to do almost anything you can think of is a dream for many of us. Even more, achieving self-sufficiency on such a lot, and having a large pond or a small woodlot, is the ultimate life goal for some.
Owning half an acre or more provides you with endless possibilities when it comes to farming and you must become as efficient as possible to avoid wasting time and resources. With a large lot, you just won’t have the time to do everything you want, and you will keep yourself busy all day trying to cover everything that needs to be done.

Tools are needed

If you have a plot of land ranging from one to five acres, you will need certain tools to make your life easier. For example, a chainsaw can be used for both landscaping jobs and rough carpentry if needed.

Miniature cattle are the micro version of the most common cattle breeds such as Holstein, Angus, Jersey, Hereford, but also Longhorn and Brahman. Sheep will provide you with meat and milk and the valuable wool, which still remains the most used animal fiber on earth. Pastures for sheep are generally a mix of grass, forbs, and clover, but your sheep can also eat grains and hay. They also need clean, fresh water and an open-front shed.
To establish how many sheep you can raise, you can use the old rule stating that eight sheep can be raised on the land needed by one Jersey cow. Also, since you will use manure as fertilizer, you should know that one sheep can produce more than a ton of manure per year, and in general, sheep manure is a much better fertilizer compared to cattle manure.

That is, of course, if you don’t have close neighbors that could be bothered by your meat production mission.
Some farm-friendly communities will allow you to grow everything except pigs since they “smell bad.” However, this is a misconception, and pigs are usually clean animals if they are not crammed together in small spaces. Pen pigs stand up to their reputation in terms of smell and cleanliness, so free-range pigs (pigs raised on pastures and in woodlands) may be the way to go if you have the available space.

No backyard farm is complete without a few helpful machines that make all chores much easier. Here are some options you should consider if you embark on such a project.

Tractor

Tractors come in all sizes and shapes (although they do look alike), and there are clear distinctions between a small tractor and, let’s say, a riding lawnmower. Your riding lawn mower has a single purpose (mowing the lawn), and it usually has about three speeds forward. On the other hand, a small tractor can have between four and ten speeds forward, hydraulics, a three-point hitch, and a heavy-duty build that should last for a lifetime (ideally).
Small tractors can be used to pull trailers full of heavy things, and they have gears for various tasks. Some of the more popular implements are plow, grader blade, mower, bush-hog, log splitter, loader, and post-hole auger.
Tractors provide you with many options, and you can do a lot of jobs that you won’t consider until the time to do so comes. Even if the Fords are old models, there are many out there in perfect running condition, and their simplicity in design makes them a great purchase. Parts are cheap and easy to install, and you can get a good used one for half the price you will pay for an import one.

Two-wheel tractor

These little machines are known in popular terms as “walk-behind tractors” and can till up a heavy garden in short order with little input from the operator. These are the perfect machines if you have ground to till, and they can perform other jobs as well, provided you have the proper attachments. For example, you can blow snow using a two-wheel tractor, or you can pull carts loaded with heavy items.

Skid-steer loader

You can also find a small skid loader on many farms since these machines do not require steering like tractors, and they can pivot by breaking one side or the other. They are extremely useful and easy to operate in close quarters since they can turn around at their own length.
Let’s say you need to move and place something within an inch or so of a certain area. Using a tractor requires complex maneuvers to do the job right but using a skid loader will make working in one spot a precise and fast operation.
