New positive cases on 12 July
The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre stated that there were new positive cases in Macau within 24 hours yesterday (12). 22 cases in the red code zones and medical observation hotels were found during the management and control. Five cases of close contacts, four cases detected in positive citywide nucleic acid and key groups, and one case of other groups, belonging to the community. A total of 1,615 cases have been accumulated since 18 June 2022.
Among the 1,615 cases, including 855 females and 760 males, ranging in age from 3 months to 100 years, 593 were symptomatic and classified as confirmed cases, and 1,022 were asymptomatic and classified as asymptomatic infections.
Epidemiological investigation
The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre stated that as of 3 pm today (13), a total of 20,000 people had been followed up through epidemiological investigations. Including: 1,615 positive cases, 3,122 close contacts, 11,077 non-core close contacts (that is, people with a common track), 936 secondary close contacts, 254 general contacts and 767 accompanying persons. There were 2,229 excluded cases.
Information on the novel coronavirus pneumonia situation in Macau
The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre said that 16 new confirmed cases were confirmed in Macau yesterday (12), all local cases, with a total of 679 confirmed cases since 2020. 12 new cases were discharged yesterday, bringing the total number of discharges since 2020 to 163.
In terms of asymptomatic infections, 17 new cases were added yesterday, of which 16 were local cases, and one was imported. Since 2020, there have been 1,256 asymptomatic infections. There were 31 new cases released yesterday, bringing the total to 357 cases released since 2020.
Since 2020, there have been 1,935 positive cases. In addition, one new death was reported, bringing the total fatalities to 4.
The 8th round of citywide nucleic acid testing
The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre stated that the eighth round of citywide nucleic acid testing began at 9 am yesterday (12). As of 3 pm today (13), 600,444 people have been sampled, of which 439,889 have tested negative. A total of 4 mixed samples were positive. At present, further tests have been arranged for the persons involved in the mixed positive samples, and the tests are still in progress.
So far, four tubes of mixed samples are positive. Among them, two are confirmed positive persons (1 is a cleaning worker, 1 is a houseworker, and the two are married). No positive person was found in 1 tube (the CT value of this tube was 39.75, the nucleic acid test of the corresponding ten people was negative, and one of them returned to Macau more than a month ago from a medium-and-high-risk area, and the possibility of re-positive is not ruled out). Another tube is still being followed up.
The Centre again called on the public to cooperate with the citywide nucleic acid testing. The six key groups of people will continue to carry out daily nucleic acid testing measures, and relevant employers, companies or institutions, and regulatory entities will cooperate with the implementation of supervision.
Paying attention to the situation of the red code buildings
The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre stated that three new cases were added in San Mei On yesterday, all of which were found in the medical observation hotel. There were no new cases in Edf Fai Fu and Edf Concórdia Square. In addition, a new round of nucleic acid sampling and investigation was carried out for all the people in Edf. Concórdia Square (Bloco 2) yesterday, and all the results were negative.
Based on experience elsewhere, direct or indirect human-to-human contact is the leading cause of human-to-human transmission in the same building. Therefore, once again, the residents of the building with cases are appealed to not go out of the house unless necessary. In the unit, they should also keep a distance from their co-occupants, wear a mask, separate rooms, eat and drink separately, wash their hands frequently, disinfect frequently touched places, and pour water into the floor drain daily.
IAM has yet to receive a formal application for dog respite services
The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre stated that the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has yet to receive a formal application for dog respite services. Ten related inquiries have been received involving 14 dogs.
It is found that many employees who use hotels as dormitories still have frequent contact with people
The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre stated that after an epidemiological investigation yesterday (12), it was found that three employees of Imperial House Dim Sum in the Venetian Hotel were diagnosed with the virus. They previously lived in the dormitory of the hotel and had more contact with other employees, so the authorities have controlled all the staff of Imperial House Dim Sum and all those who had contact with the three confirmed cases, and Imperial House Dim Sum has also been temporarily closed. In response to the recommendations of SS and DST, the Venetian Hotel has also strengthened preventive measures and significantly reduced the contact between employees.
The Centre emphasised that minimising human-to-human contact is the key at present. However, it was found that many employees who live in hotels as dormitories still have quite frequent activities, increasing the risk of transmission. People who use hotels as dormitories are also called to reduce their contact with other groups.
In addition, the Casa Real Hotel has been listed as a red code zone because three hotel employees were infected, there was more contact between employees, and most of them lived in dormitories. Hence, the risk of transmission was high.
As long as the transmission chain is still not interrupted, the epidemic prevention in Macau must not be taken lightly
The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre stated that the number of new positive cases in a single day has decreased in recent days. It clearly shows that with the comprehensive measures of citywide nucleic acid testing, key population nucleic acid testing, citizens' self-antigen rapid testing, epidemiological investigation and control work, and social relatively static management, some transmission chains have been effectively blocked. The risk of the epidemic in Macau is slightly lower than before.
Even so, the whole of Macau must not take it lightly because some positive cases have not yet been found to be related, which means there are still invisible transmission chains in the community. Moreover, the Omicron virus is currently highly transmissible, and as long as the transmission chain remains unblocked, cases may multiply again.
People in all industries must wear masks of KN95 or above specifications
The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre stated that according to the Chief Executive's Dispatch No. 115/2022, all people must wear KN95 or above masks during work, including outdoor workers and people in specific industries (such as cooks). The Centre emphasised that the novel coronavirus Omicron BA.5.1 is highly contagious, and those who do not wear masks are at very high risk of infection.
There is no indication that the recent epidemic in Zhuhai is related to the outbreak in Macau
The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre stated that Macau and Zhuhai maintain close contact on joint epidemic prevention work. Regarding the recent epidemic in Zhuhai, there is no indication that it is related to the Macau epidemic. The two sides will make further judgments, including genetic sequencing of the virus.
Even if there are zero cases at the community level, it does not mean that the risk of the epidemic is eliminated
The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre stated that according to the experience of many cities in the mainland, after reaching zero cases at the community level continuously, that is, after no new cases have been reported for one week in a row, the local area has the conditions to resume some activities one after another. However, it does not mean that the risk of the epidemic has been completely lifted. Follow-up nucleic acid testing measures must continue to be implemented, and activities in the city will only resume gradually. The resumption of social movements in response to the continuous social disarmament focuses on comprehensive factors such as the development of the local epidemic and social conditions. Macau will also consider its actual situation.
Sequentially transport different individuals to the Community Treatment Centre for quarantine according to the level of risk
The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre stated that for various types of people who need to be sent to the Macao Dome Community Treatment Centre for quarantine and diversion, the authorities have priority in terms of transportation and transportation according to the level of risk. For example, for people who have a positive self-antigen test result, Fire Services Bureau personnel will give the highest priority to their homes and transport them to the Community Treatment Centre. The second priority group is close contacts. Afterwards, other groups such as people on the same track are classified by the department responsible for transportation and sent to the Community Treatment Centre for quarantine and triage.
Conde de São Januário General Hospital (CHCSJ)
Macau's 4th death recorded today (13)
The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre stated that another death case was recorded today (13), a 94-year-old woman who was cared for at home and was diagnosed with novel coronavirus pneumonia on 3 July. At that time, according to the epidemiological investigation, one of her housemates was first diagnosed, and she was listed as close contact and then diagnosed. She was then transferred to the Public Health Clinical Centre at Alto, where she was treated with antiviral drugs and antibiotics. She was a wholly dependent care recipient without any self-care ability, suffering from chronic heart failure and respiratory failure. Until 12:30 am on the 13th, the rescue effort failed, and she died.
The Centre stated that the family members understood that the older person was old and had multiple organ failures. The family members did not recommend using too many invasive treatments, so artificial life support equipment was not used for rescue in the end. I want to express my deepest condolences to the deceased patient's family.
The medical team will continue to treat other high-risk patients at the Public Health Clinical Centre at Alto.
The Centre added that four deaths had been recorded so far, two of whom received two doses of the vaccine and two older adults who were not vaccinated. The Centre stated that the deaths of these four cases were not due to pneumonia but were due to their underlying diseases, severe chronic diseases, complications after infection with pneumonia, or aggravation of their organ failure, resulting in death.
Those who have been diagnosed and who have completed the isolation period at this stage must go to CHCSJ on time for nucleic acid testing
Those diagnosed in Macau who have completed the isolation period must go to CHCSJ for nucleic acid testing at the designated time after completing the isolation. The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre stated that the arrangement is to facilitate the management of nucleic acid test samples of relevant persons and to avoid virus residues that may appear during the testing process and be positive or weakly positive. The mixed-tube samples in the citywide nucleic acid test would therefore be affected to be positive. The authorities do not rule out that they will review the appropriate arrangements and determine whether some sites will be opened for nucleic acid testing for relevant people, depending on the number of confirmed patients who have completed the isolation period in the future.
Nucleic acid testing of buildings in the red code zone
The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre stated that nucleic acid testing for residents of the red code zone buildings is a necessary measure. The authorities need to know whether there are more infection cases in the building. Once an infection case is found, it will be transferred to an isolation and treatment facility, and its close contacts will be managed. Residents of buildings classified as red code zones must undergo two nucleic acid tests and daily antigen tests during the 5-day lockdown period. If the antigen test is positive, they must be taken to isolation or treatment facilities.
The Centre stated that since the environment of each building is different, the Municipal Affairs Bureau or the Social Welfare Bureau will first visit the residents to understand their situation. After the nucleic acid sampling team arrives, the residents will be arranged to go to the designated locations for nucleic acid testing in an orderly manner. It is hoped that citizens will arrive on time and undergo nucleic acid testing according to the instructions of the on-site personnel. If the residents arrive early and gather in a hurry, the staff will also coordinate on the scene to reduce the risk. At the same time, citizens are urged to wear masks when leaving the unit, try not to touch the environment and objects in public places, and not gather to talk. After completing the nucleic acid test or obtaining living materials, they must return to the unit as soon as possible and clean and disinfect their hands.
Suppose there are buildings with exceptional circumstances, such as Edf. Fai Fu. The nucleic acid sampling team will conduct today's nucleic acid sampling for residents. Because many older adults and people with disabilities are involved, the authorities have completed the sampling work through workforce deployment and cross-departmental collaboration.
Nucleic acid station sampling personnel use alcohol hand sanitiser to wipe gloves after sampling, which is in line with the guidelines of NHC
The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre stated that during the sampling process, nucleic acid samplers need to accurately and effectively sample the nasopharynx or oropharynx and occasionally inevitably have particular physical contact with the subject. For example, they may touch the face and other body parts when immobilising the sampled person. Infection control procedures are included in health authorities' training of all sampling personnel. In the early days, Macau nucleic acid samplers would change their gloves after completing the sampling of each citizen before sampling the next citizen. Still, the sampling time required for each citizen would therefore become longer. Later, the health authorities refer to the relevant guidelines of the National Health Commission (NHC), that is, use alcohol-based hand sanitiser to scrub the gloves, which can also achieve the same infection control effect. Using alcohol hand sanitiser to clean the gloves can effectively reduce the number of times changing gloves, shorten the sampling time, and make the sampling process smoother.
The Centre emphasised that the head of each nucleic acid testing station and the personnel who have received relevant infection control training will regularly inspect the situation in the station to ensure that the on-site staff in different positions strictly follow the operation instructions to carry out various tasks.
SS and IAS support the mental health of the isolated
The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre stated that it has recently been noticed that people in isolation hotels or those who have been diagnosed and isolated are experiencing psychological conditions. SS has joined hands with the IAS's psychological counselling hotline to proactively care about the mental health of the isolated and provide appropriate support. During this period, we will overcome the difficulties together and hope to understand each other and ease our emotions.
Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ)
The 9th round of citywide nucleic acid testing starts tomorrow
DSEDJ stated that the 9th round of citywide nucleic acid testing would be conducted from 9 am on 14 July (Thursday) to 6 pm on 15 July (Friday). The reservation system will be opened at 7 am tomorrow (14). After analysing the data of recent rounds of citywide nucleic acid testing, citizens' appointments for testing and to facilitate the nucleic acid testing needs of residents in some areas, starting from the ninth round of citywide nucleic acid testing, the opening hours of some nucleic acid testing stations will be adjusted. In addition to mobile nucleic acid sampling vehicles, in addition to Riviera Macau/Terminal, Escola Luso-Chinesa de Coloane, Hac Sá Park, Ocean Gardens Health Centre, and the Affiliated School of the University of Macau, two mobile nucleic acid sampling vehicles will continue to be added to designated areas.
DSEDJ continued to say the stop arrangements of the two new mobile nucleic acid sampling vehicles that have been added. The first bus is parked at Macau Anglican College (Beco da Baía, Taipa). The second vehicle is parked at Escola Secundaria Pui Va Seccao Primaria e Infantil. In addition, the parking location of the B47 mobile nucleic acid sampling vehicle will be adjusted. It will remain parked at the Affiliated School of the University of Macau on the first day for citizens to make appointments for sampling and parked at the construction site of Islands District Health Services Complex on the next day for sampling by the relevant personnel living in the construction site, without an appointment. Four general stations will not have a late-night time slot, and the opening hours of all general stations that do not have late-night hours will be adjusted to start at 8 am the next day, and the opening hours of other general stations will remain unchanged.
DSEDJ calls on students of higher education institutions in Macau to pay close attention to the development of the epidemic in Macau and strictly cooperate with the SAR government in various epidemic prevention work, such as participating in citywide nucleic acid testing, self-rapid antigen testing, and cleaning and disinfecting their residences. As the current society is in a relatively static state, if it is not necessary, higher education institution students should stay at home or in the dormitory, pay attention to their physical condition, and seek medical attention as soon as possible if they feel unwell.
In addition, DSEDJ has also notified higher education institutions to strengthen publicity and education for students. DSEDJ also calls on students to take the initiative to pay attention to the epidemic prevention arrangements and information released by the SAR government and their affiliated institutions of higher learning and jointly do an excellent job in campus epidemic prevention.
Details: More mobile NAT buses to be engaged during the 9th round of Citywide NAT Programme to suit citizens' needs and habits
Added four general stations without late-night time slots
According to DSEDJ, four new general stations will not have late-night slots starting from the 9th round of citywide nucleic acid testing on 14 July. Including Escola Estrela do Mar, Venetian Cotai Arena A, B and C, Lok Yeung Day Care Centre for the Elderly of UGAMM and MGM Macau - Grand Ballroom. Together with the 11 nucleic acid sampling stations whose time has been adjusted in the previous round, there are 15 general nucleic acid testing sampling stations that do not have a late-night period. On 14 July, the opening hours will be from 9 am to 1 am, and on 15 July, it will be adjusted to 8 am to 6 pm. The opening hours of other general stations remain unchanged.
Currently, 36 public departments and entities are participating in the citywide nucleic acid testing
According to DSEDJ, there are currently 36 public departments and entities involved in the work of the citywide nucleic acid testing stations. Each station will arrange for public servants to work indoors or outdoors, and there is also a rotation mechanism. With the continuous improvement of citizens' cooperation, the number of jobs for volunteer groups has been reduced. Thank you to the volunteer groups again for their constant support for the citywide nucleic acid work. In addition, since the epidemic in late June, several citywide nucleic acid tests have been carried out. With the active cooperation of citizens, they have become accustomed to making appointments and arriving on time. The total number of samples collected in multiple rounds is similar, and each round of testing has been very smooth.
Social Welfare Bureau (IAS)
1 residential home has been arranged to rotate support staff into the loop
IAS stated that it would continue communicating and coordinating with various institutions under closed-loop management. On the premise of balancing epidemic prevention and control, service requirements and staff needs, it will arrange for employees in need to go out of the loop to take turns and go home to rest. After following up with the various institutions and their management entities on multiple details and arrangements, the relevant institutions are now following up on different preparations, including the specific understanding of individual employees' willingness to leave the loop, preparing for the isolation site before employees enter the loop, formulating detailed arrangements for leaving and joining the loop, and preparing for related administrative matters. One institution has already arranged support staff who will be in the loop for rotation, starting tomorrow (14) for a 7-day closed-loop isolation and then entering the loop to replace colleagues working in the loop. It is expected that in the next few days, more institutions will be able to complete the relevant preparatory work and gradually implement and implement the measures of cyclic rest.
24-hour counselling and support hotline provides counselling for closed-loop residential staff
IAS stated that it understands the limited space conditions of individual institutions. After learning about the situation, we have prepared enough simple folding beds for the home to choose from and contacted the home proactively. If the staff needs it, they can ask the home anytime. Some employees reported that their family members could not deliver the necessary supplies under Macau's relatively static management state. IAS appeals to all citizens in Macau to cooperate with the overall anti-epidemic deployment of the SAR government at this critical moment in the fight against the epidemic, comply with the requirements of the relevant instructions, and stay at home unless there are urgent and necessary matters. Each home has already prepared all kinds of vitamin supplies, which are sufficient for all staff and residents.
IAS is concerned about the mental and emotional health of employees of closed-loop residential homes. If employees need it, they can call the 24-hour counselling and support hotline 2855 8802, opened by IAS for closed-loop residential staff. If the supplies sent by the family members of employees are urgent and necessary, such as essential medicines, etc., they can also call the above hotline for assistance.
IAS hopes that the working and resting conditions of closed-loop residential staff can be further optimised through the relevant measures.
Tourism Office (DST)
3,803 people under medical observation in hotels
According to DST, 3,803 people were under medical observation in hotels today (13), 3,173 in general medical observation hotels and 630 in special medical observation hotels. The total includes 2,701 Macau residents, 551 non-resident workers and 551 tourists.
Sands Corp. Cotai hotel premises need to implement relevant epidemic prevention measures immediately
Since it has been found that people infected with the novel coronavirus are working in the Venetian hotel premises, to reduce the risk of further spread of the epidemic, the latest epidemic prevention guidelines and requirements of the health department are followed. DST issued a letter to Sands Corp. yesterday (12) to inform its hotel properties in Cotai to immediately implement the following measures:
- Employees working in the hotels mentioned above must undergo a nucleic acid test for the novel coronavirus once a day.
- Notify staff staying at the hotel not to enter the community unless necessary.
- Strictly follow the guidelines to implement anti-epidemic measures and arrange for employees in hotel rooms to dine alone in the room.
Unitary Police Service (SPU)
The police issued 588 persuasions so far today
According to SPU, from 12 am to 3 pm today (13), various departments conducted 588 persuasion work, and the law enforcement department made a total of 6 prosecutions. Since 11 July, 19 cases have been prosecuted for violating the Law on the Prevention, Control and Treatment of Infectious Diseases.
Convicted crime in the first case of violating anti-epidemic measures
SPU stated that on 13 July, the primary courts (TJB) heard a case of suspected violation of epidemic prevention measures through summary proceedings.
According to the case, at about 7 pm on 12 July 2022, the police patrolled the vicinity of Pátio Fu Van in Macau and witnessed a Macau resident smoking on the street without wearing a mask, and immediately approached and intercepted the person. After investigation, the police charged the Macau resident with violating epidemic prevention measures.
After TJB received the file transferred by the Public Prosecutions Office, the judge considered that the case met the requirements stipulated in Article 362 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Therefore, the case was tried in a summary procedure. After the trial, the suspect pleaded guilty in court. The judge immediately made a judgment. The suspect was convicted of the crime of violating the epidemic prevention measures under Article 30 (4) of Law No. 2/2004 Law on the Prevention, Control and Treatment of Infectious Diseases in combination with the provisions and penalties of Article 25, paragraph 1 (1), (2) and (7). Sentenced to five months in prison and suspended for two years. The conditions for probation are to pay 10,000 patacas to the SAR government within one month.
Public Security Police Force (CPSP)
General situation of entry and exit
CPSP introduced the entry and exit of Macau:
On 12 July 2022, the total number of inbound and outbound people at various ports in Macau was about 1,400, a decrease of 25.3% from the previous day. Among them, about 500 people entered Macau from multiple ports, including about 190 Macau residents, a decrease of 8.2% compared with the day earlier, about 240 tourists, a decrease of 18.7%, and 22 mainland workers, a decrease of 50%. About 900 people left Macau, including about 430 Macau residents, a decrease of 27.2% compared with the previous day, about 300 tourists, a decrease of 34%, and about 150 mainland workers, a decrease of 4.9%.

2015.08.19 03:09 brucehezicheng I lost my laptop in Iceland and I'm very devastated
It's not something that I expect Icelanders or anyone in Iceland would do but I feel terribly disappointed that apparently someone has taken something very important that belongs to someone else. After reading so many posts and stories about people getting lost items back in Iceland and I'm very deflated that it has not happened to me.
I arrived in Kelfavik on 22 July at around 1:00am, then I took the Flybus from Keflavik to Reykjavík. I put my laptop above my seat. When I got off the bus at Bsí terminal in Reykjavik I might have forgotten to take my laptop with me. Then I took a minibus, also operated by Reykjavik Excursion, to B47 Hostel. After I arrived at the hostel at around 3:00am, I realised I didn't have my laptop with me but I couldn't remember whether I left it on the Flybus or the minibus. I immediately called back to the Bsí terminal and told them I left my laptop on the bus. The person told me I should come pick it up later in the morning. I assumed he would notify the bus drivers to look for my laptop so I rested.
When I went back to the bus terminal at around 11:00 and talked to the desk, the girl didn't know about this and at that moment she started to tell the bus drivers to look for a laptop bag on a bus. But at that time there were already many buses going around in the area and they couldn't know which bus I was on. I left my contact details to them and still had great hope to retrieve my laptop back. But I was very pissed at the Reykjavik Excursion that they didn't even start looking for it until I went back.
Then one month has passed and I received no reply from the bus company. I went back to the bus terminal and they said they didn't find my laptop at all. I then went to the Rykjavik police to report a lost laptop. The police said they had not received any turned in laptop. Then I tried sending emails to local newspapers Fréttablaðið and Mbl to ask them if they can help me advertise my lost laptop, because I saw they reported the news of a tourist getting back a lost iPhone from a local woman. I never got any reply back from these two newspapers.
I am devastated and gravely disappointed that someone in Iceland would take something obviously so important but belongs to someone else. All my Icelandic friends say I may be the unluckiest person ever in Iceland because stealing simply does not happen in Iceland. The laptop is a purple cover HP laptop, it cost me 600GBP last year. The laptop bag is a black Acer bag. Along with the laptop there is a green wireless mouse, two pairs of earphones, and the charger is attached to an Icelandic adaptor plug. The system is a win 8 system, so when the laptop is turned on it will show my username, the email, and it needs password to log in to access the system. Therefore I am very disappointed because first of all, it is not a small item like lost phones, it's a big lost luggage. Secondly it's not that hard to get in touch with me, as long as anyone turns on the laptop they will see my email. I have been using it for more than a year and it's got all my school work, documents, and my precious travelling pictures. Sadly I always thought backing up was a bother so I never bothered.
This is something I would not expect anyone in Iceland would do. Even for the tourists in Iceland, they would think it's a bother to take a big laptop. No one can access it unless they know the password so the only value is to take the laptop apart, but I don't think there's such a black market for stolen computer parts in Iceland. It's a massive confusion and disappointment for me so far.
I still have slim hope that my laptop is still out there somewhere in Reykjavik. But I am greatly puzzled why it has not been turned in or I have not been contacted. I thought I would post my situation here to let people know, and I would be very grateful if I could get any help, just any help at all.

I still have slim hope that my laptop is still out there somewhere in Reykjavik. But I am greatly puzzled why it has not been turned in or I have not been contacted. I thought I would post my situation here to let people know, and I would be very grateful if I could get any help, just any help at all.
