Welcome to the Hub Post for the NFL Top 100 Players of the 2022 Season!

METHODOLOGY

Several years ago we made a decision to focus on ranking just the previous season based on feedback. This year we continued that plan and only ranked players based on their performance during the 2022 regular season, since that is an equal baseline for all players. Post Season play was not considered in the rankings which is a continuation from last year per sub feedback. Additionally, we have increased the games played requirement from 10 games to 11, to be closer in proportion to the prior standard of 10 games in a 16 game season.

• Step 1: Getting the list of representatives. That’s what we did back in January. We started with over 100 rankers which led to 54 completed ranking submissions
  
• Step 2: We began nominating players who ranker’s believe should be considered that have played/ a minimum of 11 regular season games. Rankers from each of the represented fan bases submitted nominations for their own teams' players. This ended up being 194 players in total. This took about a week or so and was the only player pool for consideration.
  
• Step 3: The Grind. Once the pool was created, we utilized rankings threads about what tiers each player is in within their position group. Users were to break players into the following tiers for their peers to evaluate: Top 25, Top 50, Top 100, Top 101-125. This is done to give everyone an idea of where each ranker feels a player should be ranked based on 2022 regular season play only. This is an important distinction; if we were to rank players using past performance while projecting their standing heading into the 2023 season, the context would be completely different. Do you think a player who had a down year in 2022 will bounce back to the top tier player he’s been? I’d probably agree. However, that’s not what users were tasked with evaluating. Furthermore, we did this by positional grouping in individual threads; standard positional breakdown was QB, RB, WR, TE, OT, OG, OC, Interior Defensive Linemen (IDL), EDGE Rushers (EDGE), Off-Ball Linebackers (LB), Safety, CB. If most users have a player in Tier III (Top 100), for example, while someone has him unranked while another has him in Tier I, we’ll be able to find out why they are such outliers publicly. This took roughly 2 months, because we want everyone to have a thorough discussion of any questions they may have. It also helps individual rankers visualize where players should land on their own personal lists prior to submitting. It also helps prevent any funny business.
  

NOTE 1: There were no individual player threads submitted by users discussing the merits of players for or against their placement on the list. Users were also required to complete roughly 80% of these tiers prior to submitting their own lists for the overall average. There were breaks built into the process to allow everyone time to do the work and catch up (if necessary) but inactive users were removed periodically. Hence the difference in the total number of people from the start of the process and the total number of submitted sheets.
NOTE 2: No ranker was forced or encouraged to rank a certain numbelimited number of positions on their list based on some arbitrary formula or idea. For example, NO ONE was told they need to limit the number of QBs on their Top 100 list. No ranker was directed to ignore any positional value; users were encouraged to factor positional value as they saw it into their rankings since it is a largely subjective measure.

• Step 4: After discussions were completed, the remaining users submitted their own, personal Top 125 list. Ranking 125 players was done to get a more accurate and fair average, especially towards the bottom end of the list where rankings tend to wildly fluctuate. Users were given over a week to complete their list.

NOTE 1: Rankings are submitted via individual Google Sheets and auto-compiled into a master list. We reviewed each list for outliers with the help of former rankers to catch individual ranks that are far off the players calculated mean, whether intentionally or accidentally. We calculated a mean rank then the standard deviation for each player. After that, we automatically flagged all ranks outside 1 standard deviation to ensure I caught user submission errors using built-in Google Sheets conditional formatting functions. We also flagged ranks 2 standard deviations or more from the mean to ensure rankers intent with their own list. This was done to ensure flags were identified with as little bias as possible. Conditional Formatting formulas were used to highlight cells to verify automatically to remove subjectivity. Users then had the opportunity to correct any submission errors found prior to finishing the list. We used 1 standard deviation in addition* to 2 since some players had large standard deviations and I wanted to be certain I caught actual mistakes. Rankers were only required to justify ranks 2 standard deviations from the players mean; the keyword here being justify as they weren’t directed to correct them. The entire spirit of this list is to take several individual rankings and find an average.
NOTE 2: All rankings will be made public. That may obviously bring some unwanted heat. But we don’t believe in skirting transparency for convenience sake. This was made known in the Call for Rankers and during the ranking process. This sub will only see the ranks for each post during the reveal. The final post - The Post Mortem - after all reveals will have a data dump with all ranks, individual sheets, and outlier ranking data made available.

• Step 5: With all rankings submitted and corrections made, if any, users lists were locked and their submissions finalized as their own. We then calculated an average rank as noted above. Unranked players were designated with a rank of 140 to tabulate the average for all nominated players. Additionally, one high rank and one low rank were removed from each player's tally to calculate the average rank. Players ranked 101-125 in the average will make the Honorable Mentions list while the remaining 1-100 will be the ranked players. Any ties were broken by their average before the one high rank and one low rank were removed.
  
• Step 6: The Reveal… where we are now!
  

For the second straight season, myself and u/mattkud have been honored to run the ranking process. We cannot thank our predecessors, u/MikeTysonChicken , Mister_Jay_Peg , u/Staple_Overlord , and u/skepticismissurvival , enough for building a platform that allows us to run this list as thoroughly and efficiently as we did. I’d also like to thank all the rankers, both the ones that finished the list and even those that didn’t. Overall they did a great job (except for the ones that mixed up Quincy Williams and Quinnen Williams on their ranking sheet)
After three years of ranking myself, I can tell you this is a fun way of spending the offseason regardless of the praise or scorn you get for the list. You get to interact with people and fanbases that you might not otherwise pay attention to, and analyze and watch players who you might know only in passing. Sometimes I say the final ranking isn’t the most important part, it’s about the journey of rewatching all these great players and having a newfound appreciation for them. I know I’ve become a more knowledgeable football fan since I first signed up to join the list, and I’m sure most rankers would say the same.
The rankers had a number of strategies for how they ranked the players and each was allowed to follow their own personal guidelines within the given parameters and as long as they were not simply using derivatives of other outside rankings. Basically, have your own positions and beliefs. As the reveal progresses, the rankers will have the ability to volunteer their player lists for the revealed numbers and/or where they ranked the listed players as they wish and you are free to engage with them.
Lastly, players will be revealed on the teams they played/finished the 2022 season with.

The Honorable Mentions (125-101) will be released Tuesday. June 6th. The reveal will begin on Thursday, June 8th with spots 100-91. From there we will release a list every Tuesday and Thursday. The Post Mortem will follow the week after all reveal threads.

Tagging Pokémon for most of us should be a fairly simple concept, but because we have other responsibilities apart from Pokémon GO, we can sometimes commit "mistakes"—bad actions in our Pokémon storage. Thus, I made speedtagging. Be warned, this will be a fairly long read. At first glance, this seems unnecessary, but for Trainers with at least 1000 Pokémon storage, speedtagging will be very helpful. - Could you imagine how weird it would be if a team averaged 1 run per first inning at home but scores 10% of the time on the road in the first inning? What about if they were 2nd in the league in OPS at home and 22nd on the road? That would be weird right. I haven't had much of a chance to be a gamer in the past couple years due to having a kid and generally being an adult. But I've taken time off from work for the next week to be a complete degenerate and play Diablo 4 and Street Fighter 6 while eating lots of unhealthy snacks. It's a gamer vacation!
I'll be playing all day weekdays from like 8 AM - 3 PM EST, dinner and time with family, then 8 PM - 11 PM again.
I'm pretty casual so no tryhards or ragers.
I've got Discord and my PS5 is set up on a second monitor next to my gaming PC.
SF6 - Never really been into fighting games before. I've been playing a little SF5 in preparation for the past few weeks and I'm currently only ranked Super Bronze but hoping to get fairly competitive with it. I'll be using Modern controls. My main used to be Ryu in SF5 but I played Juri in the beta. I'm also looking forward to trying out Lily, Dee Jay, Honda, and Blanka.

Tiktok: Changes Affecting Creators & Advertisers

Tiktok made major changes to its platform. With the launch of their new creator fund “creativity program beta”. They have encouraged the top 4% of creators to push more long-form content.
And this push is also delivering results for Top Advertisers in the space. This fund was launched alongside a new Tiktok Ad format, PulsePremiere. These Ads currently in beta are shown after a trending piece of content.
For Music Marketers & Artists, Tiktok launched #newmusic to support upcoming artists.
And after that boom, we got smashed with the TikTok US state ban in Montana. There is a huge controversy around it but this news isn’t affecting marketing spend.
Executional Angles 🎬
Tiktok’s Ad platform and creator marketplace are getting better. The updates aren’t public. I have tracked a few cheeky practices from the Tiktok product team to gather more user data and better their Ad platform. Expect better location-based targeting in the upcoming few months.
For organic, With the new creator fund. Many long-form content creators are seeing an engagement hike for their content. You can experiment with long-form content as a business to connect longer with the audience.
And a nice sign is TikTok is now pushing more content from “people you follow” to the For You page. As mentioned in my Tiktok marketing post, this is something new and encouraging for brands.
Upcoming: Tiktok is testing an AI Chatbot similar to snapchat. This launch will help them keep users more engaged.

Pinterest: Affecting Organic Content

In April, Pinterest got into huge issues with user safety on the platform because many users were targeting young audiences. After that Pinterest made a few changes and at the beginning of May, launched their transparency report showcasing how they are filtering harmful content.
A great callout here is “Gen-Z is on Pinterest”. Every single platform mentions that they have Gen-Z users on their apps to attract advertisers. But data from different research shows that Pinterest has a growing Gen-Z user base, especially for diverse and Female audiences.
Bring back to the latest content ranking system and algorithm changes to Pinterest. Earlier this week, I shared this blog post from the Pinterest engineering team about the latest updates to the platform.
Executional Breakdown of Algorithm
First of all, how the Pinterest algorithm ranks content is very simple and it's all based on user interactivity.
All different engaging elements like comments, save, share, and like give the content system a signal to rank your content for relevant topics. As revealed by their engineering team in this post and by the previous product manager at Pinterest on Lenny’s podcast.
The new changes to Pinterest are very simple:
Diversifying your content, Pinterest is making changes to the content system to make sure the content it ranks on the app isn’t too sensitive toward a demographic. That is why they want Pinterest businesses and creators to diversify their Pinterest boards and content strategy.
This affects niches like Beauty, Fashion, and other lifestyle-related brands. Don’t try to sell the idea of clear skin or a perfect body shape. Pinterest is looking to provide a better and healthy space for young audiences.
The second change is “keyword search”. In the blog post, there are mentions that the algorithm will try to show more of the content that includes identical keywords & sentence structure to “user search queries”. To promote more relevancy and better content to users.

Platform Changes: Pinterest users can now add links to every single Posting format. And added a new platform analytics feature for better insights.

Twitter: Regaining Advertiser Trust & Bots

With the new Twitter CEO coming in, One of the Top Advertisers mentioned their comeback to advertise on the Bird app. But mid-micro advertisers are still not loving the Ad platform.
Besides advertising, Twitter continues to launch new services and features for Blue subscribers. And decreasing creator monetization requirements, increasing the video upload limit to 2 hours. The other focus is on attracting more advertisers to the platform.
A lot going on forTwitter. But the biggest issue is that Bot spam is at its peak, removing bots was one of the biggest promises made by ElonMusk. Still not delivered.
I have my fingers crossed for June.
Execution Considerations:
Twitter is getting better at recommending relevant tweets under the original tweets you read. And as you know it is mentioned on Github that the Twitter connection network plays a huge role in getting content discovered.
I recommend refining your network and networking with the right audiences. Kinda old advice but the platform is testing new prompts related to this. That is why you should click on it.

Starting with the world's biggest marketing agency will get even bigger with a new partnership with Nvidia. WPP is partnering with Nvidia to use its AI technology to level up its campaigns. Link!

Instagram: Targeted Advertising!

Believe it or not. Meta is moving fast with Instagram now. Tiktok announced their search ads will roll out slowly to marketers, and last week Meta came in clutch and announced “Instagram search Ads”. You can access them through the Instagram marketing API. Link!
Besides that Instagram made a huge spark as the information about a new Twitter viral came up. Meta is expected to launch a new decentralized Twitter-like app for their users in June. Many are excited about it. It could be a great opportunity for businesses as many find IG very hard to scale.
Decentralized means your followers can follow you on the new app with one click. This app can help you reach more existing followers on IG & FB.
Other than these two, there was a list of updates including a new creator fund announcement. But not much impacting your organic growth.

PPC: New Policies Kicking In

For the second half of 2023, Advertisers in the UK & EU need compliance with these new Google Ad requirements. Link!
Google and Walmart both took steps to make media buying and Ad creative creation easier. You can read here about Google’s new approach to media buying and how Walmart here is trying to help businesses with Ad creatives.
Microsoft is moving fast with Bing Chat Advertising, You can now use Chat Ads API to integrate ads within Bing AI. Link!
There were a few other marketing product updates for Microsoft in terms of improving targeting and utilizing AI. One of my favorites is the recent UET update to their analytics dashboard.

Meta: Data Limitations & AI for Marketers

Meta is stuck. Yes, because they have developed one of the best AI languages and structures to benefit marketers. For example, this new engineering blog showcasing its new AI content structure is golden. Link!
At the same time, Meta is having huge issues in the EU & UK with their data usage. The platform Received a $1.2B fine and now UK representatives are limiting data usage for Meta. Good for privacy but points to a huge problem for paid media marketers.
Meaning Meta’s future is bright due to AI research & frameworks but data issues are like close friends showing up every single day.
Other than this, Meta is launching AI tools to help marketers create better Ad creatives. Link!
In April, Meta increased its involvement in AI to push organic content and in May was focused on utilizing AI for paid media offerings.
Facebook: New Lead generation forms features and a few updates to Facebook reels were key product updates.

SEO: It's all changed but…

With multiple announcements, Google search page structure & how content is ranked will be changing. The new interface is expected to prefer AI-generated results but for June. This new feature is opt-in, users on the desktop can choose to get AI results within a search. Changing their Google page experience.
Many SEOs are predicting a 70-80% traffic drop in the upcoming months. But many experienced SEOs believe changes are good and the traffic for the future will be more quality-oriented.

Youtube: New Ad Formats & Algorithm
After doing $40B in revenue last year. The platform announced new Ad formats at IAB Newsfront. With the launch of 30-second unskippable Ads on Connected TV.
Where Youtube is headed with Unskippable Ads is the future of online movie & content streaming. Either platforms like Netflix, Hulu, and other services have to give up a share of revenue. Or they need to go back to unskippable Connected TV Ads format to pay the writers.
Coming back to Youtube, Every week on their “creator insider” channel they announce various new updates. The highlight was the recent update of community post creation for all users.
Partnering with Influencers and using community posts to target core audiences is one of the best strategies based on this new update.

LinkedIn: Continued Organic Growth

As the round of layoffs is not stopping, LinkedIn is having its best time. The in-app activity continues to increase and now the platform has 930 million monthly active users, closing in on the 1 billion mark very soon.
LinkedIn is embracing AI in May with new AI features to help with messaging, job descriptions, and other hiring processes.
All that growth doesn’t mean everything is great. As the platform laid off 700 employees this month.

While many believe that the nature of Reddit doesn’t fit e-commerce offerings. Many product reviews and conversations take place on Reddit and users get the ability to integrate products from other businesses within the content. It could work very well.
Using these features to self-promote is impossible but with the right execution. It can do a charm.

In the pantheon of A7X albums I think I’d put this 5th, just ahead of Self-Titled and behind The Stage. Obviously this album is very experimental. The thing about experimentation, as we all learned in science class, is that sometimes you get the result you want and sometimes you don’t. As such, this album is hit-or-miss. The peaks are extremely high and the valleys are pretty low.
My biggest takeaway is that there seems to be a sweet spot of experimentation, where you stay true to who you are, but expand yourself into new areas. Mattel and Cosmic are both songs Avenged Sevenfold would have written in the past, but with new elements that actually IMPROVE the songs (especially Mattel) instead of detract from them.
Here are the songs ranked (in my opinion) and my brief takeaway from each one:

1. Cosmic - This song as absolutely as beautiful and emotional as it was hyped up to be. My only complaint is that they brush past the Elton John part pretty quickly, and only bring it back as vocoded background vocals that are hard to hear. But the melody is so beautiful and it’s the single-best lyrical song A7X has ever written. A top-5 song in their discography.
   
2. Mattel - The experimentation in this song absolutely WORKS. The piano part in the chorus is a really cool contrast from the rest of the song (but still flows), and the synth after the second scream…….my god. I’ve never heard a synth be so heavy. It builds the tension so well. Nothing bad I can say about this song. Top-10 all-time Avenged song, only behind Cosmic because Cosmic is so damn beautiful.
   
3. Nobody - Everyone’s already heard this obviously. To me this is a classic Avenged song just with a couple of twists. I don’t mind the repetition. Love the guitar solo.
   
4. Beautiful Morning - I think this is a really good song concept, but I’m not sure the tempo changes actually served the song. A couple of them probably would have worked, but there were too many and it was distracting. Still an outstanding chorus and a really cool vibe. The ending is well-done with the creepy piano part mixed with the chorus.
   
5. (D)eath - I really like Matt’s vocals here. Very catchy Sinatra-style vocal melodies with a very dark and haunting vibe. Not a metal song at all aside from some creepy guitar in the second half. Best song in the G.O.D. trilogy easily.
   
6. Game Over - This grew on me a bit when I got to hear the full song start-to-finish, instead of the 1-minute snippet Matt posted the other day. I’m still not crazy about the vocals in the heavy part, but the Disney part at the end sounds really good in the album version.
   
7. We Love You - We’ve all heard it of course. Super-catchy chorus, way too spastic for me otherwise. Doesn’t flow at all. But the chorus is memorable as hell.
   
8. Easier - Ugh. I guess I’m just not a fan of the vocoder. They had a pretty good song concept here. But it’s hard to pay attention to because it feels like a robot is singing it, and that just doesn’t sound good to me. Some good guitar and good vocals from Matt when not vododed.
   
9. G - This just feels weird for the sake of weird to me. Very hard song for me to follow. Definitely has a funk vibe and some good musicianship, but after multiple listens, barely anything from this song sticks with me.
   
10. (O)rdinary - This just isn’t my style of music at all. And I can’t even say “well at least there’s good musicianship” because….there is no musicianship lol. It’s all computerized. It is sort of catchy though, just not in a way I’d want to come back and listen to a lot.
    

N/A. Life is But a Dream - Can’t really rank it because it’s not a proper song. Cool piano piece with a bittersweet vibe. Ends very suddenly.

the reason they bleeped it out is because Eminem was refering to Columbine High School in Coloardo where two students named Eric Harrison and Dylan Clevost went to school and they were wearing trench coats and inside there trench coats they had Machine Guns, Granades, AK's, Mags, and revolvers and they shot and killed 12 of their fellow students and 1 teracher Eminem and Marlin Manson's music was blamed for this thats why he says that he's basically saying that they make it seem like Eminem and Marlin Manson were the ones that shot up the school he's tryin to say it's not his fault and just because those kids were Eminem and Marlin Manson fans dosen't mean that they did it because of Marlin Manson and Eminem's music
Marshall Mathers- the line that's censored it " _____________________ faggit" he origionally say "Paul Simons and motherfucking faggit" Paul Simon was Eminem's moms lawer back when Eminem's mom sued Eminem for defamation they bleeped it because if he said his name he would of gotten sued.
Kim- The line thats censored is "Theres a _______________laying dead with a slip throat in your living room" the line originally says "Theres a four year old little boy laying dead with a slit throat in your living room" the reason they bleeped it out is because it's illigal to talk about slitting little kids throats
Criminal- The line that's censored is "I drink Malt Liquor to fuck you up quicker then you'd wanna fuck me up for saying the word ______" He origionally says "I drink Malt Liquor to fuck you up quicker then you'd wanna fuck me up for saying the word nig*a" He bleeped it out because he's not going to say that word on his record
8 Mile:
Rap Game- the line thats censored says "I'ma get snuffed cause I ain't said enough to pipe down I'll pipe down when the _______ is wiped out when I see that little _________ dyke get sniped out" he origionally says "I'ma get snuffed cause I ain't said enough to pipe down I'll pipe down when the White House is wiped out when I see that little Chenny dyke get sniped out" They bleep it out because he's threatening a member of the United States Congress and also threatening the destroy the White House and it's against the law to make threats like that.
The Eminem Show:
White America- He says at the end of the song "To burn the _____ and replace it with a parental advisory sticker"
He Originally said "To burn the flag and replaace it with a parental advisory sticker."
Hailie's Song- The lines not bleeped out it's just hard to understand anyway he says "Cuddle wit daddy I'm so glad that her mom didn't want her"

Like Toy Soldiers- the line that was bleeped was "I went my whole career without ever mentioning _____" he origionally says "I went my whole career without ever mentioning Suge" it's bleeped out because he won't say Suge's name because he's got too much respect not for Suge but for Dre and Dre asked him not to say Suges name so he didn't.
We As Americans- the line that censored is "I'd rather see the _____________" the line origionally says "I'd rather see the president dead" the reason it's beeped is because it's illigal to threaten the president and they considered this a threat.
Eminem Presents The Re-Up
The Re-Up- The line that was bleeped out was "He's already reconciled with his _____, a chainsaw and an axe". It is suspected by people on this forum that he says "He's already reconciled with his ex, a chainsaw and an axe". And I believe it.
No Apologies- The Line that was censored was "you fuckers are not ready, cause i got jelly, like ________ pot belly" He says "you fuckers are not ready, cause i got jelly, like Beyonce's pot belly". He bleeped that out most likely out of respect for Jay-Z.
Fucking Crazy
Busa Rhyme- The part that's bleeped is "Hit a fuckin ___in her ___ with luggage" He's supposed to say "Hit a fuckin pregnant chick in her stomach with luggage"

What's your current top 5 rappers? They don't have to be active, they can be rappers you listen to a lot. If i have to make top 5 atm. It will probably go like this

1. Nas - do i have to say anything? Three peaks, great albums, great songs.
2. Jay-Z - he created a lot of good songs throughout his career. He haven't released an album in 6 years now, but i listen to his music everyday.
3. Travis Scott - here's where this list is kinda controversial. I know a lot of people are not too fond of TS, but i like his music. He knows how to create a vibe.
4. A$AP Ferg - Yeah, that's right. He's a savage. He always destroyes every beat he touches. He might not be the best rapper, but he has a style that i like. He knows how to hype you up while telling a story.
5. A$AP Rocky - He has it all really, but i listen to him less than i do to the other 4. He can create a vibe, he can rap, he can tell a story and even hype you up. Also, he's that pretty motherfucker.
