Honda crv coolant reservoir

Looking for small SUV suggestions

2023.03.26 22:28 Adventurous_Bee530 Looking for small SUV suggestions

I'm in the market for a newish car. Preferably don't want to spend more than 25k (USD). Has to be AWD, I live in a very snowy area and get up early for work. I like the look of the Mazda cx-30 the most, but have also been looking at Subaru crosstrek, Honda crv/hrv, I've heard great things about toyota rav4 (my boyfriends parents both have one), but they'rekinda ugly. I don't need anything too big, no kids, 1 dog.

2023.03.26 21:12 AdrianVanMeter Suspicions for coolant leak in 2003 Honda Civic EX?

Hey all, appreciate any speculation y'all might have. Especially while accelerating or climbing hills, the coolant escapes the system and splashes onto the underside of the hood and all over the battery, radiator fan and surrounding area in the corner of the engine bay on the passenger side toward the front bumper.
I have replaced the reservoir tank, upper and lower radiator hoses, and thermostat. I have not replaced the reservoir tank hose, I just clipped a bit off the end while replacing the tank itself, and it is a suspect in my mind along with the radiator or possibly one of the heater hoses.
Thanks in advance, reddit :)

2023.03.26 21:08 Fresh_Tune_552 Need a 2nd car for 1 baby and 2 dogs. Opinions?

We need a 2nd car. I wanted a Honda CRV but all the Honda dealerships wanted a few thousand as a market adjustment. Toyota will sell at MSRP but most of their vehicles are so ugly. I hate the Camry the least and am thinking about picking up a XLE.
Also, Toyota won’t sell me a hybrid but they also won’t charge a market adjustment. The Camry isn’t ugly and isn’t expensive. I’d get the Venza if they’d sell me one.
Honda has hybrid CRVs available. I want the CRV but refuse to spend $43k for one. It’s the low level one.
Thoughts? The rav4 is an option but I think it’s ugly. I feel like a Camry is big enough for our family size.

2023.03.26 21:03 Aggravating-Animal20 An ode to my 2018 Mazda6 Sport

Base model, Tax tag and title I paid 21,190 brand new, recently paid off. 70k miles including a cross country road trip with no issues whatsoever.
Committing to a 40k max price point, I’ve been flirting with the idea of upgrading. This weekend I cross shopped and test drove the mid sized ‘23 sedan and SUV from the following brands:
With my Mazda6 as the baseline. The disparity in steering feel and driving dynamics difference in each car that lacked where instantly recognizable. After the RAV4 I realized how used I am to the precision of Mazda steering after years of driving one.. The Mazda SUVs and BMW was the only one that came close to the same level of enjoyability. Traffic would be miserable in a Nissan with that transmission! Why are so many people driving the RAV4 hybrid? I don’t get it. Was falling asleep. Honda CRV Hybrid was the silent winner here. Mid steering and dynamics but everything else was butter smooth and high quality, feels like comparable power to the CX-50 turbo, with 50mpg.
Where a bunch of these cars better than my current Mazda6? For sure. But did any WOW me beyond the point that made me want to consider a new car payment? No!! I was shocked just how in the ballpark all these cars where to a BASE model 5 years older. I realize all things considered there’s a ton of value in the car I already do have. I feel bad about the sales people I strung along but I’d be stupid not to keep my car.
All in all, it really reaffirms my purchasing decision and makes me love the car and brand even more. What a tremendous ROI on a vehicle. I know when Estelle dies, whatever Mazda waiting to replace her will be amazing.

2023.03.26 20:44 Personal-Werewolf-80 Just bought a 2015 Honda CRV Touring 150k miles. The car has been a nightmare. The heating vents are blowing gas/oil smell. It is making my kids and I sick. It gives you a headache within 5 mins of driving. McGrath Honda sold me a junk car, I thought they were a reputable dealership…

2023.03.26 20:39 Personal-Werewolf-80 I just bought a used car from a reputable dealership. I bought a 2015 Honda CRV. When I turn on the heat there is a sicking smell gas/oil coming from the vents. I went back 3 times and the dealership has no solution. They washed the engine bay but have done nothing else. I feel like they ripped me

2023.03.26 20:38 extreme_diabetus 2001 Honda Civic 103k miles, won’t stop overheating

2001 Honda Civic EX, 103500 miles
New radiator
New timing belt
New water pump
New head gasket + had head machined down .030” according to tech
New thermostat
New coolant temp sensor
Bled coolant system multiple times myself + paid a mobile mechanic to come out to bleed it too
I’m at my wits end with this thing. It’ll do two miles, bring the temp to nominal operating (coolant temp reads 170ish at this point) then the temp gauge will rise above the temp icon a few times before skyrocketing towards the red.
Heat comes and goes which makes me think there’s still an air bubble but I have no idea what to do when the mobile mechanic used a radiator bleed kit and bled it for 10 minutes until there was no more air coming out the top.
I’ve heard older civics like this are picky with thermostats? Can anyone confirm?

Update: 394,000 mile 94 pickup
I asked advice a few days ago on a very high mileage 94 pickup that had been flat towed all its life. I bought it, and its a real gem. It's been well maintained and has lots of service paperwork. New brakes, front ball joints, radiator, thermostat, coolant reservoir, distributor, igniter, spark plugs and leads, new tires, fresh brakes etc. I'm definitely glad I didn't let the mileage scare me off because this thing has a lot of life left in it. Thanks to everyone who commented on my previous post.

2023.03.26 18:05 Plus_Ad_6540 Looking for a used plug in hybrid

I have a 2014 Honda crv that I’m selling. Looking to get a used plug in hybrid like a Nissan leaf instead. This is mostly because it’s our 2nd car and would be just for local driving. I’m looking to spend between 13-17k - similar to what I’m selling the crv for. Any advice on what used plug ins are reliable and what to stay away from? The ones I’ve seen so far that are in the price range are:
2016 ford energi 2017 Chevy volt 2015 Nissan leaf
I’m not sure how any of these hold up over time.

Anyone else have a problem with the '22 sport coolant reservoir?
So yesterday I just happened to pop the hood on my '22 sport to add windshield wiper fluid and noticed that my coolant reservoir was shifted to the side and basically propped against one of the belts with a hole melted through it... It's super easy to remove the reservoir from the bracket that holds it, and I had no reason to suspect that anything was wrong with it, the car wasn't overheating and there was no indication that the coolant was low. I was just wondering if this is a problem other people have run into, or if it was a fluke on my end?

2023.03.26 07:47 TiffyFluff Not a particular fan of the 2023 HRV model... Hear me out though.

Its not that it doesn't look like a good car - I have ENVY in the depths of my SOUL for the new center console alone. But I feel like this new model lost what made the HRV such an interesting car in the first place. The magic seats, and quirky back door styling that confuses everyone I know, and the way it sorta looks like a Honda with a mullet (Civic in the front, CRV in the back.) And that blind side camera - I LOVE that camera and it was such a hot feature for my HRV, and while I'm not dramatic enough to say I couldn't live without it, I can say that if given the choice I wouldn't live without it. Those are just the first features that come to mind of course, as they are what drew me to the HRV originally.
Again, I don't hate the 2023 model as a car, they have surely made a LOT of improvements that I do wish had come sooner for my own 2019 model.
Am I totally alone in this vibe?

Hi there, on a 5 hour road trip from home about 1/2 way here my 2015 Honda CRV gave me a maintenance code for “all wheel drive oil.” Figured it’s the rear differential. My question is will I be safe to drive back home and doing the maintenance?! Will appreciate the feedback!

Context:
My first time doing a custom water loop. Other than the fluid, everything is Bykski branded only because I live in the Philippines and shipping EK or Corsair branded products from the US or EU would cost me x2.5-x5 the cost of everything I spent and I would have to wait 30 days for it to arrive hoping everything works just fine. Simply put there's a lot of risk involve and the cost is too much to consider. Everything is shipped from China.

I did my research and watched a lot of build videos on YouTube. Kind of messed up with the reservoir size. I ordered before I even measured the height clearance because the Lancool II is a pretty big case and I thought it would fit the usual layout but it didn't that's why the pump is located right under the GPU block since it's the only place it would fit. I used the Male-to-Male fitting to connect the pump and the GPU block.

It's a good learning experience and I would probably do another build in the future but on an ITX size this time. I still have a lot of soft tubes and fittings by the end of this build that can accommodate for another one. Even with the coolant I ended up using probably around 600mL overall.
I would like to thank this subreddit for having a support and info section. It helped quite a lot. And for the inspiring builds this community showcased.

I just want to note that a simple PVC Pipe Cutter that you can find on most hardware stores around the gardening section will do to cut the soft tube pipes. You can buy the EK or Bykski cutting tools if you want but I think it would cost double for the same function. I would highly recommend against the use of knives or blades to cut the tubes. You can probably use those on a pinch.

Total Research Time = approx. 4 months
Total Build Time Upon Arrival of Parts = 12 days
Total Cost = PHP23,036.88 or US$424.35 converted with an exchange rate of PHP54.29 per US$1 at the time of this post.
*Shipping is free so I didn't include any.

2023.03.26 06:45 Plus_Ad_6540 How to sell crv privately?

I have a 2014 Honda crv. I was thinking of trading it in but best offer I’m getting is 10.6k. When I look at the price to buy of the same crv it’s going for 16-17k. I looked up some private sellers with the same car and mileage and they’re asking 15-16. I wanted to figure out how I can try selling mine privately to see if I can get more than the 10.6k that carmax offered me. Any tips on the best place to do this? I don’t know anything about selling private, obviously want it to be safe and I’m willing to do some of the leg work if it means I can get an extra few grand for the car. Looking for any and all advice!

2023.03.26 05:34 jaystinjay R53 maintenance

Any advice?suggestions on best sites for parts? 2006 R53 92000klm (living in Canada, BC)
I already use rock auto and amazon (been hosed on a couple of items from amazon - belt tension tool not a good fit, other items never delivered etc.) and not so sure about mini mania (fees for delivery getting nuts).

So far I've fixed up:
Oil pan gasket
oil pan drain plug
Crank position sensor Oring
Drive belt
Oil filter (Mann) and oil change (castrol 5w40 synthetic)
Alternator
O2 sensor #2
power steering reservoir line (will be replacing the reservoir as well as new leak from pressure line at connection)
New coolant reservoir
On deck:
waiting for delivery of oil housing gasket and oil cooler gasket.
Trying my best to stay on top of the leaks and aiming to keep "Martin" in good shape.
