2023.03.20 03:19 CounttN Silvers Games are Easy

So I used to be hardstuck Plat last Episode but this episode I peaked D1 in Act-1 and D3 Act-2 (45 games total).
I spoke to one of my friends who at the time, she was playing a comp game. Asked if she wanted me to teach her and she agreed. She was Silver-3 and never hit Gold before until now.
Had her screen-share and I watched the game while using Valoplant to show how she should play the match. She was playing Jett on Icebox, and using what I know of how other Jetts play, I taught her how to do stuff and immediately she was popping off.
While watching the match though I noticed Silvers players have bad habits. Ally Skye overheated going for more kills. Ally Sage has inconsistent positioning.
It is so easy to get out of Silver if you know exactly what you need to do to improve.

2023.02.07 21:30 dramaticprovolone Guides geared toward strategy

Does anyone have a good resource for game strategy aside from Valoplant?
I'm really frustrated. Peak Ascendant 1... spent quite some time playing this game. I think me and everyone around this rank does or should know basics of how to play the game. I mean the simple things like play numbers, play site on post-plant, get your refrags, basic econ, anchor and don't die, list goes on. I feel like these are all these things that are 'by the book' rules to follow that have gotten me to where I need to be while understanding movement and mechanics.
It's been a while since I've heard a game tip that is new or profound. All these 'tips to rank up' guides are so simple, even when geared toward higher ranks. A lot of these will help new players and certainly helped me, but why aren't guides focused on mid-higher elo spent explaining strategy?
I just want to learn better ways to hit a site, counter agents, synergize with agents, best ways to hold a site and positions to play contact or crosses etc. I understand the answer may just be to play the game more and come up with new ideas yourself, but does anyone else feel this way? Am I at the point where I just need to absolutely master a certain agent? I will say watching pro-play and Twitch streams teaches me some cheeky stuff, but that's about it.
I don't want this to come off as arrogant, but there is some frustration right now breaking my barriers, and it sucks not just being able to hear simple enough answers anymore that would be game-changing.
Edit: A letter & formatting.

2023.01.30 19:36 BowenErro Recommendations for Learning Content

Hey y’all I have been selected to coach for a team because I have been coaching my friends for a bit doing vod reviews recommending aim training and whatnot. However, I feel like I’m missing some knowledge. I can make setplays, talk about midrounding and teach making good choices as well as micro adjustments players can make; but I dunno, I feel like I don’t have the connections or experience to go a step further for my team.
I was wondering if there was any good media for me to watch or read to help teach myself to coach them better. It’s a time like this where I really wish there was a replay system because it’s not like I can load pro games and analyze them like you could in CS. I have to stare at the minimap and try to understand what’s going on macro-wise that way.
Do y’all have any good recommendations for high level coaching content? Like pro game analysis, or analytics from a professional, any useful archives like vlr.gg, tools like valoplant, or even blogs. Thanks.

2023.01.28 12:59 DarkDragoX I need to learn Sova lineups, but I haven't found a single YouTuber who does Sova lineups. Can I have any help?

I've looked through all of Reddit, YouTube and even ValoPlant and Valotracker. Nothing on Sova lineups. Not even recon lineups. Can someone please tell me somewhere I can find Sova lineups?
I'm just joking, we all know Jollz has Sova lineups :D

2023.01.18 18:35 Ilandria Choose-Orientation Minimap Option

Hello!
Does anyone know if there's a way I can have the fixed minimap setting always be oriented from the defender side (instead of attacker)?
Via Valoplant, I've learned that the most intuitive minimap map orientation for me is the defender-sided fixed view since in that orientation sites are always laid out alphabetically from left to right. I sometimes get the sites backwards from the attacker perspective since the minimap is rotated 180 degrees (i.e. it's reverse-alphabetical from the left to right).
From what I can tell, these are the available options and the (imo) obvious missing one that I feel would actually be the most intuitive default.

2023.01.14 03:27 Fullbr1ght A discussion about attacking site C of the new map Lotus as Astra.

First, apologies for how absolutely scuffed this post is, I have no clue how else to do this. Can only link images, can't embed them.
Here is a valoplant diagram of my site C attack plan
Now, to the point. What is depicted in the image above is my current method of attacking site C of Lotus immediately upon round start. Trying to use this for a 4-1 C/B split (I'm generally shotcaller and able to corral people effectively, so this can be made a 3-2 or 5 man rush if that would work better.)
The idea behind this is to ensure I always have an emergency star to access (not too concerned if it's a normal or recall smoke, hence using both normal smokes), but how would you guys approach site C, with the limitation of using 3 stars maximum? Do you perhaps have a method that uses fewer?
The idea behind the C Main smoke was to allow access to both C Bend, the narrow passage to Waterfall, and for someone to be able to leak out to behind the shallow box cover. Generally try to have someone flash out of that smoke, allowing us to contest or push up the corner of C Bend. This is where I've had to make some on the fly adjustements to the plan, usually a Gravity Well to pull anyone out from behind the corner of C Bend, however this does leave me with only a recall smoke for C Hall, or no stars at all for post-plant play if I absolutely have to full smoke C Hall.
The stun on C site is simply to drive out anyone sitting up there (I've had some major problems of 2-3 man pushes just getting absolutely trucked by a single rifle holding that position) or to at least reduce their effectiveness enough for a rush to be successful. Would say this is the second most important star of the plan after the C Main smoke to enter.
The C Hall smoke is what really drove me to make this post, as I really feel that it could be used better, but cannot figure out how exactly to do so. It goes down later than the other two stars (first two go down basically as soon as the round starts), so maybe it doesn't need to go down at all?
Also, here's a (scuffed) version of the Lotus map layout with the callout spots. Hopefully helps explain what I've been rambling about.
So, what ideas have you guys come up with? I'd love to hear the strats you've invented for this new map, or any advice you have for refining this one.

What do IGLs do exactly? I wanna learn
I am igling for my team of friends (2 immos, 1 diamond, 1 plat, 1 gold) and we play in tournaments, sometimes beating current and former radiants but sometimes choking to diamond/immo teams.
IDK how to igl but this is what I do:
Attack
-I make strats on valoplant.gg, we practice it in scrims, and if there are specific things that happen in game, I tell them what to do (Example: We have a strat with 3 rushing mid on icebox, if I see 2 or more people in mid, I usually comm "reset and go back to A".
-Sometimes when we default, I tell them what utility to use to take that map control. (Example: In icebox: kayo knife B long and take control with sage, viper do ur thing with the mid smoke, sova, drone from belt, jett updraft belt with a cloudburst and spray anyone who gets tagged by the drone.)

Defense
-I make setups in defense and want them to do exactly as I say and display.
-Idk what else to do from there and would appreciate advice.

2022.02.12 11:14 HITBOXLUCKYLUKE Valorant Database Platform

Valorant Database Platform
Hey everyone!
I would like to show you a Valorant platform I have developed that I am sure you will like. It is a free platform to learn from Valorant at all levels: casual, amateur and professional.

https://preview.redd.it/y2un7efvjdh81.png?width=1457&format=png&auto=webp&s=3abb200dbc1c75fd494f54dcc858744c9bfe6433
It is a database where we try to gather ALL the microstrats (such as lineups, setups, and combo skills), and they are sorted by agents, tournaments, teams, skills...
You can also search for ANYTHING on the website. There are also examples with videos, examples with valoplant, and a written explanation of what is sought with the micro.
These are some of the database characteristics:
  • The website is in both English and Spanish
  • There are more than 900 plays, and we officially add around 5-6 daily micros/lineups. Also, any user logged into twitch can submit theirs to the web by using the “Submit Micro” button (this has been 2 days on the website, literally). No proposal is accepted automatically, but is carefully reviewed by the mods to see if it’s correct, has enough quality, and it’s not already in the database.
  • You can filter by agents, skills of said agents, micro from a specific person (lineup/setup), duo, more than 5 agents, by side, and you can also select that the premium ones appear (those designated for subs) or the “free”. You can even filter for Tournaments or teams.
  • The micros are classified by “FREE” (for everyone), “PREMIUM 30 days” (available as premium only for 30 days and then they become FREE), and “PREMIUM” (only available for twitch subs). You need to understand there is so much work behind it, I need to pay the servers, the web developer, and also pay the admins and developers who introduce the micros every single day and supervise all the plays people send. It's accepted twitch prime and even you can share a twitch account with each other.
  • You can save the micros that are interesting for you to see them later, rate them (for other users' knowledge), and comment on each of the micros with your twitch profile. You can also report the micros in case you think there is some type of mistake (such as spelling, translation, confusion of terms or maps, etc.).
  • There is also a ranking of users who send the most micros that will be rewarded each month to encourage user collaboration.
  • We are working on MANY new features, including adding map areas (with a virtual map you can select the micros or lineups that interest you in a certain area), and also an APP for mobile.
You can also check this tutorial video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zA85SFEqFfY
As I have said, the website is free for everyone, but 40% of the micros are “limited” to my twitch sub. However, I am willing to anyone who helps me by giving me feedback (or needs it) and/or contributing with micros, to give them premium access permanently to the website.
The website/platform is: www.hitboxking.com
Sorry for the text and Thank you for reading !

2022.01.28 01:04 Deliver730 I tried out your strats on Bind in my scrims and this is what I learned!

I tried out your strats on Bind in my scrims and this is what I learned!
I just wanted to thank everyone who took the time to comment on my last post! Between the Valorant and ValorantCompetitive I had an abundance of responses. I was however not able to try each and every response commented. NOTE: This will be a long post so if you just want a summary scroll to the end. I didnt record anything due to teams not wanting their strats possibly leaked (which is understandable) so I used valoplant.gg for a visual representation.
Defense Pistol:
u/boof404 “defensive pistol would be the vision strikers classic of running 5 people down a short w/ all the util in the world, and either catching them off guard or 5 man retaking B.”
https://preview.redd.it/j6sq6l2wibe81.png?width=275&format=png&auto=webp&s=8e8c4bf6263958f78245419d5823d5af271a92d4
With Jett entry and KayO to trade this worked incredibly well. We first isolated the market side of the push with Astra smoke, Viper Molly, and had 4 push into market initiating with KayO knife and with one player holding the smoke. After we killed the 2 market side players we re-aggressed into the shower side and cleanly took the round only losing Jett. We were lucky in the sense that they were set up for an A site execute. Unsure how it would’ve turned out if they did a B hit.
u/PRL-Five “4 stack a site (either a or b) let viper play on other side alone. Since rotations on bind take super fast, viper can anchor while y'all rotate. Maybe a flank too.”
https://preview.redd.it/9r6mc0m2jbe81.png?width=512&format=png&auto=webp&s=8da53b61ab219165ed069e83baa94f98b0049798
We ended up doing the same push into short like boof had suggested earlier, except had Viper on B with Nats setup and had KayO use nade to slow a push from shower side of short. This is in my opinion the best way to be aggressive on pistol defense. Again they were set up A short and we cleaned up the round.
Bonus/Eco:
u/ShockDartuBONUS OR FULL BUY Astra hard smokes bottom of B long, sova darts for fountain, kayo flashes through the astra smoke. We ran a variant of this play in our immortal/radiant scrims and it was decently successful.”
https://preview.redd.it/53bih9y8jbe81.png?width=269&format=png&auto=webp&s=3eb858e2f4100e4bc54d5f2bd5ceac87406eb294
We tried this strat once on bonus. Astra smoke and timed sova dart with flash. We ended up getting one off of the initial flash, but did lose Jett and KayO in the process. In hind-sight we probably need to find a dart that can’t be shot from T spawn allowing someone to play anti-flash without knowing. Overall, I like this idea when the enemy is conditioned to an early deep smoke a few rounds then switching it up with the dart and flash.
u/Not_Real_Name_Here “A little memey, but if you have a lot of specters on a bonus round, I like to push slowly as a group in a group of 3 or more. Often ends up with a lot of bullets flying and you tend to trade a few times if anyone dies. Viper and Astra util will allow you to close distances.”

https://preview.redd.it/gedb1cz9jbe81.png?width=152&format=png&auto=webp&s=870af797a76b16d9c5ecf87f17b9f0d04e56a9d2
We had 3 specters push mid with a flash and Astra suck, ended up getting one and tagging another. Once the gravity well ended we were flashed and droned out and lost all three in the push. This was the best attempt to make this work on bonus. We also tried a slow push A short into market, but was spotted from the lurk player and then pinched in market.
u/VoidDoesReddit “Put Viper in Hookah with her orb and a judge and have her throw her wall on A, Jett on B Long with an OP (if they're an OPer, I assume they are), Astra as the quick rotater between sites (helping whatever site the other team is leaning towards), Sova throws an arrow outside Hookah from a lineup as close to showers as possible and then holds down showers and tries to take the orb. Kayo goes A short. Try and use Astra's stun/suck more than her smokes and rely on viper's smokes to take precedence over Astra's. The idea would be to combo kayo's nade and sova's shocks with the sucks and stuns to make pushing really oppressive on A, and the Jett OP + Viper Shotgun would make pushing B difficult as well.”
https://preview.redd.it/3knvfs4djbe81.png?width=512&format=png&auto=webp&s=45c3492ce92eeea05e8d6c53febddcb54c161ded
This setup worked very well for us, allowing us to take orb/shower control (I was confused on the sova dart hookah so had them throw one outside showers). Used a modified Nats setup on B with Viper with Judge. This saving in spending allowed us to afford an Operator easier when buying previous round leading up to this. The one hiccup was not being able to trade out players when teams would cut noise and catch someone off guard dry peaking (this can be fixed from our end) overall solid setup that lead to several round wins.
u/boof404 “defensive default would have viper + sova B, astra jett breach A. sova and breach would be the flexible rotates. the rest would stay put until there's enough info to justify a full rotate. it would really just a util dump towards chokes. breach stun + astra well is always a deadly combo, and viper is almost impossible to push out. switch breach sova jett whenever necessary(ex: if you have a solid read on b, then jett oping or breach stunning b long is good shit.)”
https://preview.redd.it/ij2txoxejbe81.png?width=512&format=png&auto=webp&s=0269c2ed1c4dcb3d3e53b53e62284d466cc1c6d5
Similar to the previous comment, but unable to try breach. We continued to take Shower orb with KayO/Astra and had Jett watch short with Operator on an off angle. When enemy sova shot dart on A or droned with enemy following up with flashes through A short to push off the Jett we were able to stop the push with Asta gravity well and KayO nade. Most of these rounds ended up stalling the enemy pushes for most of the round until ~25 seconds left when they were forced to push site. This along with the switch ups of the previous comment played very effectively.
u/CRikhard “Nats Hookah Viper Ult”Whenever we had Viper ult available we would use the ult to cover hookah drop and Garden. Sova started the round shooting dart into B long to show presence of another player then rotate Sova to A into a 4 stack A. This worked well the first time, but the Viper was droned out of the Viper ult the second time and died and forced a 4v5 retake on B which was unsuccessful. Overall this Ult should be learned by every Viper player.
Attack Pistol:
u/curryhalls “jett buys armor smoke and shorty. depending on enemy team comp sova buys drone or not (if enemy has cypher or chamber - just to catch trips or find any trap placement) alternatively u can use kay/o knife other teams usually run astra so try to be explosive with this or bait out her suck/stun elsewhere the idea is for complete uhaul/lamp control. viper and kay/o go showers.
https://preview.redd.it/97kwtstfjbe81.png?width=335&format=png&auto=webp&s=ab9376ed9119e2d9bfee8a206e0792e275df1f8b
We started the round with Astra gravity well in showers and pushed with KayO and Viper. Once we were able to take shower control we used Sova dart to draw out the smoke as we spammed and made footsteps to draw out util. Astra is watching flank during all of this. Once the enemy util is used up we cut noise and re hit fast with drone, Astra stun UHaul, followed by Jett and astra. Meanwhile, KayO flashed out showers and knifed truckish area. This worked out relatively well and lead to a 3v2 post plant.
u/Not_Real_Name_Here “I am a huge fan of Raid boss Jetts: have Kayo buy a single flash, and buy a pistol for Jett so Jett can buy armor and util. Having her dash on to site with her own util, a dash, and a frenzy or sheriff can break enemies.”We tried to do a similar A take as the previous commenter, but with a Raid boss Jett. To quickly summarize this did not end well. While it is not awful to give your star player the ability to take over the round, I believe it is best if the star player is supported with other abilities to give them the best possibility for success.
Bonus/Eco:
u/_and0 “I tend to see teams default on attack, as usual, but always try to gain control of either a showers or b long. those places tend to be crucial parts of the map to take. if you want some cheesy plays, I recommend just rushing as 5 into a part of the map. usually catches people off-guard (would recommend for pistols or ecos)”
https://preview.redd.it/ua6np08hjbe81.png?width=238&format=png&auto=webp&s=85adc02d92a203cd7ef9fc442f6a5a09259fcb72
During an Eco we slow walked up without revealing ourselves to a B Long peak. We tried to explode up to take Long control and traded 1-for-1. We secured a gun in garden, but enemy util stalled us out B Long. By the time we tried to take B our flank watch died and we got pinched and forced to TP. We were unable to get bomb down from an A site player pushed up in T spawn waiting for the potential TP. Overall I think the idea of just trying to overwhelm a player on light or no buy is a fine strategy to try and secure a weapon, the enemy did have full information on where we were and able to reposition and played the round perfectly.
u/solariiis “I like to go on field trips around the map during eco rounds with frenzy/classic or any gun you can running headshot with. hop through all the tps, maybe leave a guy inside with a shorty, just keep running around the map. fun break that restores mental and may snag you some kills”
While this was fun, it was very short lived leaving the enemy team very confused. (we did not get a single kill)
Attack Full Buy:
u/Mizzzzium “viper is doing the nats setup for lamps control, 2 stars setup to assist him, be creative with those i wont backseat you on that. Meanwhile sova, jett and astra are on b. Ideally jett and sova take long and let sova get into the lineup position, astra plays slow in market and holds for a push until someone comes to double up with him. Lineup spot (youtube sova bind jonas and use the very last arrow from long B to A Short)”
https://preview.redd.it/o6oe5o5ijbe81.png?width=512&format=png&auto=webp&s=9d397f4e8296e36ddd522e2c84842ef751073182
This one is very interesting and took me a few times to grasp the play, but I like the idea of a fake A take trying to draw enemies off of B. We tried this in two different scrims, but were unsuccessful in making it work. While Viper and KayO are still getting support from Astra and Sova it ended in both times leading to a counter flash and both dying. This did draw rotates and ended up leaving us in a 3v5 and 3v4 post plant on B. There might be something we need to try differently to get this to work, but it has potential in certain scenarios.
u/M1NIMIZE “anti-eco rounds try to stay in a group, what I like to do on Bind is go 4-1 long and if you see players on the B site/contesting you can just teleport your 4 players out and hit A.”This worked well for us the one time we did it, Astra was able to hear an A short push from the enemy. They dumped a lot of util into market similar to our pistol round strat on defense. We immediately took site and set up for long angles for an easy anti-eco. If we were more spread on the map they might have been able to catch one and secure a rifle.
u/_and0 “I tend to see teams default on attack, as usual, but always try to gain control of either a showers or b long. those places tend to be crucial parts of the map to take”
u/M1NIMISE “hold for aggression for the first 10-15 seconds, this allows you to punish any early aggression as well as wait for smokes/utility to clear and make it easier to take areas of the map.”
u/ClutchUniversity “One thing I didn’t see mentioned in the comments yet (or maybe I missed it) is uhall/lamps control is crucial for taking/holding A. I always fight for uhall control when taking A. Throw a bunch of util at it and take it. Same for retaking. Same for holding A.”
The rest of the scrims we played default and our standard stuff while taking these three comments into each round. Taking UHaul control in postplant the second half of one scrim and leaving it and holding the angle from site or short made a HUGE difference as expected. We ended up winning each post plant when we had UHaul control and were less susceptible to flanks.
Summary:
Deathballing on defense pistol round surprised me the most on the effectiveness of the strat. Some strats worked well and others had holes. Trying to force a play over having set protocols of what to do based on what the enemy gives you can hurt your team tremendously. The takeaway we had from doing this was that it is insanely important to play to YOUR teams strengths instead of trying to do what others say or even what the pros do. That being said if you are a team that can scrim for hours everyday then trying to play what the meta is definitely doable.
Thank you again for taking the time to comment and read this. If you learned something awesome! Take care and win more games on the ladder.

2022.01.25 03:28 Yaosuo Sova lineups compiled?

Just wondering if there was somewhere that has all the Sova lineups compiled together (double shocks and recons). Trying to learn the agent as he's pretty good and I want to fill the initiator spot for my 5 stack. I've seen both sovalineups.com and valoplant.gg but the former isn't updated at all and the latter doesn't have as many as I would like it to.
For example, if averagejonas has a website compiling his better lineups that I somehow missed, that would be the most optimal.

2022.01.17 20:28 ValoPlant Learn or contribute to Viper lineups via ValoPlant's lineup feature [Desktop only]

Hey guys!
ValoPlant.gg now includes an intricate lineup feature that allows you to learn and share lineups with ease. Simply select the agent and ability - the map screen will showcase the amount of lineups already present. Please give it a go and let me know what you think!
It's mostly Viper lineups that have been shared so far, would be amazing if more people would be willing to contribute, since this could be a central and free store of information with a pretty intuitive UI, that can also be used ingame via the ValoPlant Overwolf app.
Once you have a YouTube video prepared, submitting a lineup literally takes about 10 seconds and no account creation/login is required. Demo video. The app also includes a strategy creation tool - you will probably be able to mix and mash lineups into your own strategies with an upcoming patch.
Hope you're enjoying the tool and see the same potential in it that I do,

Hey guys,
I'm the dev of Valoplant.gg, a website that allows you to create strategies cooperatively with your team. After creating a lobby, you can invite your mates via the URL or the Lobby button.
Most of the abilities that can be placed on the map are sized accordingly, some of them (like Viper's wall) can even be rotated. Abilities that can't be placed on the map in game are displayed as their ability icons.
You can also draw, create text boxes or browse the community market. There's also the ingame Overwolf version which you can check out.
I hope you enjoy it and if you have any suggestions/find bugs make sure to let me know.
