Montana state academic calendar 2022-23

Hey Y'all, a few Qs I was hoping I could maybe get some answers on regarding Alberta Student Loans. I'm going to the states for school (I've already checked that my school is recognized by Alberta student aid), and though I'm on a full scholarship I need to show ability to pay cost of living for a full year. School starts early august so I need to get my forms approved relatively quickly, and was hoping that applications for loans in the upcoming academic year would open up today, given that we're in the recommended application window for August 1st.
Do any of y'all know when applications usually open, and if it's gonna be a while, if there's any way to get a loan certification letter. I'm out of country right now and haven't been able to call AB student aid to get answers myself (call won't go through even though I have useable minutes). Thanks!

I don't even know where to start.
We both go to the same university, where we met, and were together for four months total. In the beginning I always had a lot of fun around him and his friends, but I knew that we probably weren't going to end up working out, especially because of the long distance over summer.
The term 'himbo' perfectly describes this man: his lack of general knowledge is astounding. The first time I met him, he didn't know what the word homophobic meant, he didn't know Montana is a state, and he didn't know what paprika was. Throughout our relationship more of these shocking discoveries came to light: he didn't know what a hate crime was, and has almost zero basic historical education. My personal favorite was that he could not name the seven continents. He guessed first The United States, then Alaska, and then corrected Alaska to Argentina. He did end up figuring out Antartica, props to him, but I feel understanding his absolute stupidity is necessary for the story.
At college, anytime I brought him around my friends, he was horrible. Inexplicably horrible. He was on his phone the whole time, did not engage in group conversation, and at times, was actively rude towards my friends. I ignored the red flag, and talked to him about the problem, hoping he would change his behavior (he said he would), but in the few times that he came around my friends I felt incredibly embarrassed by him. His excuse was always that they aren't 'his type of people' and even went to far as to call them obnoxious.
Fast forward to summer, he comes to visit my family for the first, and stays for a week. He treated my family the same way he treated my friends, paying them no mind, and thinking only about himself. Throughout his stay, he cried 3 separate times, in a seemingly manipulative way, managing to end every day on a tense and sour tone. Almost like he wanted to be miserable, and make me miserable. This trip my parents also generously got us Universal tickets, and he did not even thank them, even after I reminded him to. On top of this, he left his stuff scattered around my house, and generally made a mess, which doesn't necessarily bother me, but it was definitely disrespectful.
The next time he visited for just a weekend, but it is where the story gets really interesting. He brought into my house chocolate square edibles, and left them in his bag on the ground. The day prior, I talked to him about the importance of closing my bedroom door (where he was staying) to keep the dogs out, but I was not aware of the weed at this time. Come Sunday, my four girlfriends are at my house hanging out with both of us, and he is acting the same way towards my friends that he always did. Then I noticed my dog acting really weird. My mom wasn't home at the time, so first I called her to get home ASAP, about 20 minutes. In those 20 minutes I was with my extremely sick dog and 7 year old sister on the couch hoping that my dog didn't die before my mom could take her to the vet. My boyfriend walked right past me, and didn't come to sit with me, despite my obvious concern and need for help, until I called him over. He stood behind me, pet the dog twice, and then went into my room to call his friend and watch Fortnite youtube edits.
When my mom got home, she took the dog to the vet, where they first ran a drug panel. It tested positive for THC, caffeine, and Benzos. Remember when I said he left his stuff everywhere- he left packets of RunGum (caffeinated gum for running), and chewed up pieces around my house that my dog got into. The dog also obviously got into his edibles. He still won't admit to the benzos.
Before my mom called me to tell me about what showed up on the tests, or give any update, my boyfriend was frantic. He was yelling "NO!", and "FUCK!" to himself. I didn't really know what to make of it, but looking back, it's clear he knew that whatever happened was due to him, and he did not speak up to tell me, even though my dog would have definitely died without the wonders of modern medicine. By the time my mom calls me with an update about the drug panel, my boyfriend is crying hysterically, making it really hard to get any pertinent information out of him regarding the drugs.
Already this situation is not ideal, and his reaction to it made the problem much worse. I don't say this to be rude, I know that people cannot control their emotions but DAMN I have never seen anyone cry as much as this man does. At this point, my parents want him to be gone before they get back from the vet, but I can't get him to leave because of the emotional turmoil he's going through. I ended up getting my aunt to come over and help me calm him down, because I seriously could not do it alone; he was in crisis. Finally he leaves after his two hour breakdown, but of course this experience caused significant issues in our relationship. He proves disrespectful and self-serving at every intersection.
At this point, my whole family and all my friends wants me to break up with him, and they are certain that we will not work out. As a side note, earlier in the weekend, my boyfriend did not help my mom bring in the groceries, and stole the aux from her when she went to bring the groceries in. In my mind, this is worse than the dog. It was intentional. I agree with them, and after a week, I muster up the courage to call him and break up officially, though we had been rocky, and I think he knew it was coming. I said the words 'I want to break up with you' three times, and each time it got ignored. He begged me to at least go on a break for a few weeks. To give us a chance. I conceded, and decided to sit on it. Much to my surprise, the next day at 3pm I receive the following text from him: "Its over. I'm breaking up with you." I responded, "you're texting me this?", and he said (and I quote), "I can pull the trigger unlike you. Neva cared." NEVA CARED????? That's why you cried for hours?
Well a few hours after he sent those messages, he told me he started to really regret his actions. He called his friends, and they all told him he was stupid, and then he told me he cried again for another 2 hours. He called me later that night and begged me to get back together and go back onto the break, to which I obviously declined. I told him I would not be getting back together with him, but that I would talk to him in two weeks.
This is where, once again, the story becomes really funny. Yesterday I received a tag on a TikTok video from his account posted two years ago. The comment was asking if we were still together, but I thought it was really strange because I never met the person, and they were tagging me on a super old video. My boyfriend, of course responded to the comment and said "we are broken up as of now, but we are going to talk in two weeks". This struck me as really fishy. I called my boyfriends best friend about it, and we came to the conclusion that it was my boyfriends own alt account, and he crafted the comments to get my attention, and probably to remind me that he's thinking about it. Extremely manipulative, but also soooooo funny. That was my final straw. I knew I needed to tell my story, because everything that happened was so fucking crazy.
Also, just for fun, he told me the reason he didn't interact with my friends at my house is because they are "reasonable attractive and he knows how he is with girls, and he didn't want to accidentally flirt with them". He also has no female friends, and no desire to have any. He told me he "wasn't dating me for my looks" and that he doesn't want to date anyone "too attractive". This is the tip of the iceberg, but honestly I don't regret any of it, just for the humor of it all.

We met almost two weeks ago and things blossomed quickly we asked so many questions together and soon things got sexual, we have video called and called regularly and do so often, we have played games together and spent the last week being inseparable, he doesn’t mind this but the issue arises when I asked
What are we?
He didn’t know because simply put he doesn’t want a longterm relationship romantically with someone who wont be in his state (I am Florida he is Texas) and not to mention he will be going to college to meet new people and friends and potentially a partner.
This makes me distraught that I can’t have him. I haven’t been eating well, I feel on the verge of tears often. He says we should just enjoy the time we have and I agree heavily but its hard. I still want to be with him but it’s just not an option and it scares me.
He also says Ill find someone in a better situation to be with and love and I believe that but don’t WANT that, simply I want him. He takes care of me still despite this talk we had and I’m glad but I feel I can’t handle this alone and need some advice, thank you!
TLDR: I know our relationship will end eventually and he doesn’t want to prolong it due to academic/life concerns

I have a faint idea of the pattern of the exam, or anything about it tbh. I'm not a bright student, I'm below avg per say, But I have an interest in material science. Figured that its too late for me to ace engineering exams in india 💀 (I only started preparing towards the end of 12th).I'm taking admission in a local state college for mechanical engineering although it doesn't have a good reppo the profs are supportive and working on research I'm interested in. Spoke to a bunch of seniors to get me introduced to profs. I do have experience working in laboratories on research projects in 9th 10th 11th grade. But apart from that I have no big olympiad or academic achievements.
I really want to go abroad on a scholarship and just came across GRE. Was wondering how to prepare for it since I have 4 years to go... How do I go about it?

So I (32F) am freshly out of a 9-year relationship very much against my will and have met someone (M34) who I'm hooking up with. I'm not ready to date anyone and my ex, despite being the one that left one, in retrospect was absent, inconsiderate and took no steps to make me feel loved or special so it could be that my standards are way too low. Anyone, my basic question is whether or not he is as unique among cis dudes as I think he might be.
This guy has:

1. Seen a therapist of his own volition for three years. He said that he'd flunked a test at school, got mad about it and kicked his car, and then realized he needed to do better for himself and signed up for therapy. I caught Ex secretly stopping therapy twice after he promised me he would see a therapist.
   
2. Meticulously trained his Covid puppy. This dog can go get her collar, give a high five, heel, knows at least 60 commands. His two cats poop in the toilet.
   
3. Maintains a very clean apartment. It's uncluttered, there are no dishes in the sink and it's very relaxing. He washes his sheets and his towels.
   
4. He just generally tries. He flat out asked me what my love languages were and has gone out of his way to get me small gifts (a shirt, picking up my favorite kind of ice cream to keep at his place) in response to the answer to those questions.
   
5. Asks me regularly how I'm feeling about things, things with my Ex, my family, and how things are going with the two of us. After almost a decade with my ex, who would never start or even participate in any conversation about feelings, ever (he literally dumped me on a 4 minute phone call at work and then blocked me, literally never speaking to me again, for the stated reason that he didn't want to listen to me cry or have a conversation of any kind about the end of our relationship, in previous conflicts I would ask him how he was feeling and he would just stare at me and say literally. nothing.), this seems basically magical.
   
6. Was very kind and not freaked out at all when I started crying on him when we were having sex due to Ex Feelings. Noticed I was not doing great, stopped, cuddled with me, had his dog cuddle with me and played a funny song on the speaker until I'd calmed down. Said I had nothing that I needed to apologize for. Shockingly continued to call me back after this incident.
   
7. Suggests and schedules fun activities for us to do together. Ex would only attend plans that I had made.
   
8. Maintains a calendar of these activities and obligations to stay organized.
   
9. Texts me back very promptly. Every time and if it takes a couple hours he politely explains that he was napping. And texts me good morning and good night.
   
10. Just politely asks for things he wants. Asks me to text him good morning. Asked me if we could be sleeping with each other exclusively (which I said was fine.) With a refreshing skip of the power dynamics this stuff usually entails, just flat out asked me if we could start officially dating and was very calm and understanding when I told him it was way too soon after my last relationship (I still have random hysterical crying jags 4- 50 times a week) for anything of the sort.
    
11. Tells me things that he likes about me. Says stuff like, "I really appreciate you" or "I'm a huge fan of you" or "I feel really safe around you" but it isn't cringey at all because he's so sincere.
    
12. Very open about everything. Has volunteered a lot of unflattering and painful details about his distant past and relationships.
    
13. Very considerate and fun lay.
    
14. Says that he thinks friendships with exes are a "green flag". He encourages me to, if I think it might add something to my life, to pursue a friendship with Ex when I am emotionally ready.
    
15. He is also very good to people he doesn't want to have sex with. Planned an elaborate Magic-themed surprise birthday party for his friend. Invited my very awkward male housemate (whom he is refreshingly unthreatened by) out to Magic because I mentioned I was worried that he was lonely.

He's not perfect. He's more into weed (though works part time and is a fulltime PhD student, so not to the detriment of his life) and spirituality than I would prefer. He's a little uptight about neatness and organization.
Anyway. How unusual is this guy? Have I just been with someone who was pretty immature for so long that a man that functions as an adult seems incredible?

Phew that was a lot of information! But what does all that mean? How does course registration work?
First things first, you should have an idea of which courses you need/want to take for your intended module. Navigate to the "Academic Calendar" link in the "Important Links" section of this post. Navigate to "Modules/Programs at Western" and find the program you want to pursue. Click on the bubble on the right that corresponds with which type of module you'd like to do (ex. Major). At the top of the page, you should see admission requirements. These are the requirements you need to meet in first year to gain entry into your desired program. It's important to note that the number of courses listed is likely not the full 5.0 credits. Fret not! This means you are open to take electives (and yes those electives can be pre-requisites to other programs if you so wish). You will also need to make sure that you take at least 1.0 credits from at least 2 different categories (category A: social science, category B: arts and humanities, category C: science). More info on this here.
Now that you know which courses you are planning to take, it's time to build a schedule. Navigate to the "DraftMySchedule" link in the "Important Links" section of this post. Login using your UWO ID. Start searching for the courses you are planning to take. Keep an eye out for the course suffixes are they are important. A list to explanations of course suffixes can be found on page 2 of this document. Using DraftMySchedule, you can see when your chosen courses will be taking place. If there is an overlap, this is called a course conflict. You will need to see if there is another time that you can take one of those courses. If neither has any alternate times, you will need to choose a different course. Additionally, some courses may have lab and/or tutorial sections. When you add a course to your schedule, it will tell you if there is a tutorial and/or lab component. The tutorial/lab sections will be listed along with the regular course times. It's important to note that depending on your course section, there may be different sections for labs/tutorials. You cannot take a lab/tutorial for a different section than the class you are in unless explicitly stated.
You'll notice that every class have a 4-digit class number that is not the course code. This is a shortcut for adding your schedule into student centre. You can create a worksheet with your planned schedule ahead of your enrollment appointment. This will make registering in your courses a lot faster once it is your turn to do so. Navigate to the "Student Centre" link in the "Important Links" section of this post. Login using your UWO ID. Now find the "Course Enrollment Worksheet" link under the "Planning" header. Select the Fall/Winter 2022 term then "Continue". You'll see a place to enter a class number. Enter the class numbers one by one into this field and select "Enter". Once you're finished, make sure to save your worksheet. You will get an email a few days in advance that will tell you when your enrollment appointment is scheduled for. Your enrollment appointment is the date and time at which you may begin enrolling in courses. You can enroll in courses as soon as your enrollment appointment begins, though you do not need to.
You'll notice in the "Important Dates" section of this post that there are dates called "Add/Drop" dates and "Final drop" dates. These are not the same. You can continue adding and dropping courses with no penalty until the "Add/Drop" date. If you drop a course before the "Add/Drop" date, it will appear as though you had never enrolled in it. If you are on a waitlist for a course and you have not been added to that course by the "Add/Drop" date, you will not be added to that course. After the "Add/Drop" date, you can no longer add new courses to your schedule. You can, however, drop courses. If you drop a course after the "Add/Drop" date but before the "Final drop" date, it will appear as WDN on your transcript. This will not affect your average in any way. If you drop a course after the "Final drop" date, it will show as an F (as in fail) and it will count as a 40% in your term/cumulative averages.

You can book an appointment with an advisor to help you with course selection as well as to answer your questions about programs/services on campus. Additionally, they run various workshops. This is not mandatory but could be very helpful.

This is also the 4th year in a row where the preseason title favorite failed to make the Finals, which is now the longest streak recorded (previous record was from '06-'08). Going back to '85, 2/3 of every Finals has featured the preseason favorite, and every single Finals up till this year has featured at least 1 team that was in the top 5.

I just recently accepted York University for the Speech and Language Sciences program. In YU Start, however (unlike my friends in other programs), no courses are listed under "Courses to Take". Under "Major Credits" on the academic calendar, there is only one 1000 level course. Would this mean that my only required course is the one Intro to Linguistics? Or are there minor compulsory credits as well? I'm just confused as to how to complete this process lol, thank you

My partner and I just recently got our Canadian passports, so I thought it might be fun to break them in with a day trip to the US (probably Washington State or Montana), driving down from Calgary. Any suggestions on places to go? I'm also open to driving down on day 1, and driving back day 2, if that allows for better options.

Honestly not sure if this is ok to post here but I’m so frustrated.
I just moved to a new state and was looking for work. I saw the local humane society was hiring for a few positions. I applied and it then brought me to a Google form saying they’re doing open interviews every Monday from 1-3 and to pick a date/time and show up. Perfect!
I show up on Monday (a little weird it was a holiday but it was on the calendar so I chose it), wouldn’t you know it, I’m told…
Lady: oh, we’re not doing open interviews anymore. Where did you see that?
Me: on your website? There was a Google form and everything to fill out.
Lady: oh, yeah that should’ve been taken down.
Me: ok well what now?
Lady: yeah. I’ll have to tell my manager to take that down. But we’re not doing them anymore. I’ll take your name and number though and see if we can call you.
I was so upset. It just felt so wrong that they could have such a slip up and be so unapologetic about it. I drove 40 minutes to get there, dressed up, prepped with questions, the whole deal. Only to say it was a mistake.
Now we’re almost at the end of the week and guess what? THE OPEN INTERVIEW FORM IS STILL UP AND STILL SHOWS DATES AND TIMES TO SIGN UP.
A petty part of me wants to post it to a local group to get multiple people showing up for the next few Mondays. Or maybe I just keep showing up every Monday until it’s taken down.

I never felt the need to celebrate my birthday at work.. it's nice for acknowledgement but it's not needed. I'm here to work and get paid, as I don't expect to enjoy it.
I'm new at this job, receptionist.
Last month we had an issue with birthday cakes. We usually will do ONE birthday cake for everyone, when everyone who's birthday month it is, is in office for the month.
Me and my coworker who have similar duties to me(Danny) made a plan to order it for next week because like 60% of the office was down in another state, including those whose birthdays it was.
Lady comes up to me to inquire about when we'll order a cake because that day, it was someone's birthday. But again, literally everyone was out of town. I told her me and Danny decided we'd do it next week. She wasn't happy with that answer and then said "oh well I'll just go across the street and grab him something anyway". That something is a cake, bought with petty cash.
Fine, don't listen to me. I don't care at this point. I did at the time, but whatever. Have your damn frozen cake, since you wanna throw a hissy fit for not having things your way.
Then a lot of other things happened. Another lady, not the same one, was mad about it too. Said lady came up to me TODAY and started to explain to me the dynamics of the office birthday cake. "All the other branches do it, I know you put it on your calendar but DANNY said no(he didn't say no, he said to wait), we need to talk to Tammy(branch supervisor) about this, this can be your sole responsibility from now on to make sure this gets done. We shouldn't have HAD to do that."
Point is she was in my face about this as if it's my fault, and made me highly uncomfortable about it. It was almost a silent aggression that she talked to me with.
ITS CAKE. YOU DIDN'T LISTEN WHEN WE SAID WE'D GET THE CAKE, YOU WANTED TO DO WHAT YOU WANTED TO DO. SO NO, YOU DONT NOW GET TWO BIRTHDAY CAKES. YOU WANNA PLAY RECEPTIONIST, YOU BE THE RECEPTIONIST THEN.

So I (23 M) had went to live with my mom (45 F)and sister and mom’s bf since my parents separated in 2015. Ever since the move my mom treated me as if I was a burden and not a priority. When we left I was entering my sophomore year of hs and where we lived was just in the line to where the school didn’t need to send a bus. As a result of that I had to walk to school for 3 years in snow,rain,sleet,hail, blistering heat you name it. I would ask her from time to time if she could drop me off as sometimes I wouldn’t want to make that walk… but her only response was she “didn’t want to touch his car” even though her bf traded in her car to get the one they had at the time. This was also around the time where my little brother was born… While I’ll admit I didn’t go out of my way to help her with the newborn she wasn’t exactly the best parent. There were times where she would get off work.. come home sit in her car for hours talking to her friend, come up stairs, and watch TV till she passed out. Then would try to throw my brother on me or my sister because she was “tired”. As the years passed I graduate HS even with all the turmoil going on. Over the summer I have a busy with the college I’ll be attending in the fall.. I tell my mother 2 weeks in advance when the date would be and when I need to be there.. the day comes and she tells me “she doesn’t have the car because he needed to go do something” so now I’m frustrated because the same person who told me since I was 7 how important education was, is the same person preventing me from getting one. Fast forward a couple months to when I get to the school, and I’ve been there about a month but I got there early because of football. The school I went to was D3 for most sports so it’s not like I was on scholarship or anything, I get called into the financial aid office and am told I’m in jeopardy of getting kicked out the school because my financial aid hasn’t been processed, it takes 3 attempts to get my mother to pick up the phone and had it not been for my football coach I would have been kicked from the college. Fast forward a year and I have to leave the school due to it being to expensive and her “not wanting to deal with that”. So in the fall of 2018 I go to my local community college. While I’m there it’s arranged that she has to drop me off and pick me up as the college is a ways away from our home. One particular day I’m waiting and she’s not there at the time she’s suppose to be. I think to myself ok she’s running late… however as minutes turn into hours it becomes clear that she simply forgot about me. I walk to the McDonald’s that’s near the college where she works… and is told my mother came to get me earlier than the time she was suppose to and if I showed up that her coworkers would give her a call and she would be back… she went home without me. Fast forward to the end of the semester and as I’m trying to register for classes I can’t because once again financial aid issue… so now I have to come out of pocket to pay for it. Around this time my older brother comes up from the city to stay with us. As said before I wasn’t much help with my brother as he was growing cause I was a 2 sport athlete in HS as well as in advanced classes, not my responsibility to care for a child I didn’t create. However my mom put on some sob story to my brother who came up here with some animosity toward me for “not helping mom”. When my brother arrived my mother started asking us for money as she was pregnant once again and her bf just lost his job cause his dumbass stole from a gas station and got fired. It didn’t help that he also had 3 children with a woman 3 Popeyes biscuits away from having her own gravitational pull. So now instead of being able to save so I can get the money needed to pay off my school she’s telling me I need to give her $150 a month to stay in a roach motel. It doesn’t help that atp in time she was rarely cooking so I was bring food from my job which I was basically paying full price for.. she’s gonna say “you should be happy you’re providing for your family” as if I’m not 19 years old. Fast forward and I’m finally able to pay off my debt and go back to school. This was in spring of 2020 so as you know covid hit shortly after. Once again once the semester was over could let get my transcript due to a overdue balance because I didn’t receive financial aid her response when I confronted her was “oh I don’t do computers I can’t help you” as if all the info wasn’t on the paper in front of her. Eventually the rules at the school changed and I was able to get my transcripts a year and a half later. I transfer and get accepted into Michigan state university. Fast forward to august of 2022 and I’m about 350 miles from any family. She tells me to send her my address because she wants to send me a “care package” that never came. As the year winds down I am informed that my father can’t come get me as he has prior obligations to tend to. While I’m the phone she has the audacity to tell me “don’t even ask me to come get you” so because of that I was stuck in Michigan for about 2 1/2 weeks longer than expected. I eventually get back home to NY and don’t plan on staying here longer than I have to. A couple days ago a conversation was brought up. She was saying how as she gets older with her having 5 children she’ll be well taken care of. I told her not to let it come down to me cause if it came down to me she’s going in a nursing home. She asked how could I do that to my mother to which I responded my mother died in 2015 idk who you are. While I can admit is a bit harsh I fell in justified with the years of BS I had to deal with so aita?
